Is Dak Prescott better than Cam Newton/Jamis Winston ?

From watching Bucs/Panthers Thursday night game - and seeing two former No.1 overall in the draft QBs in Cam Newton and Jamis Winston struggle, (as they did last year as well) I am that much appreciative and grateful that we have a 4th rounder QB that has emerged as a performer that has surpassed both Newton and Winston as a better QB,imo.

Both QBs Newton and Winston are supposed to be in the hands of great offensive minded coaches in Norv Turner and Bruce Arians, but they still look pedestrian like and you could tell they still were not playing with much swagger and self- confidence.

But with Dak,... Kellen moore,.. the OL.. and the weapons Dak has around him, we could not be in a better situation, ..as compared to what we are seeing in the two once No.1 overall picks, Newton and Winston.

Dak has more talent around him, and Cam is a better runner, but IMHO Dak is becoming a better passer. I also think he’s superior mentally.

better than Winston for sure....Winston was a failure waiting to happen given all his continued off field issues and continuing into his NFL career. He doesn't look like he is dedicated to be good. Newton has been hit too many times and has had too many injuries. he is not the same Newton as 4 years ago. that's why paying up to protect your QB is key, even for one that's built like a LB. hits add up.

yep,..and Newton's hits and injury situation is also a reason why i'm against those that say we need to use Dak more and more as a runner.
we need him being exposed to unnecessary head on pops and hits that we have seen Newton take on over the years.

Dak has always been smart and very selective in how he runs and scrambles for up field yards and chain moving 1st downs. I see him scrambling to go out of bounds and sliding to the ground
before incoming contact occurs, I hope that never changes .

exactly...if your QB has to run for your offense to be successful, then there is something wrong with your offense. I was listening to Steve Young yesterday when he was talking about Lamar Jackson and his view was the he was throwing from the pocket and that's what NFL QBs need to do. all the running around is wasted and its an easy way to get injured. just see RGIII. Newton who is built like a LB and is now dealing with injuries....people often mistake scrambling ability to extend plays with QB being able to run......you don't pay a QB 35 Mill a year to run...you pay your RB 15 mill to do that

Winston is abysmal. I had that guy pegged before he got into the NFL. He has ZERO intangibles. That team will be cursed until they get rid of him.

Funny you mention Cam because he is a PERFECT example of a QB that is inaccurate. HE is the poster child for inaccurate. Dak, not by a long shot.

I will say, however, that the guy is hurt. There is no doubt about that. HIs shoulder and foot are not right. He is hurting the team by playing.

But when Cam is healthy, he has probably been the best running QB in NFL history.

I still take Dak over both those guys all day, every day.

Dak is in a better position than both of them. Overall, the Cowboys are a better team.

Thought Winston played well last night. I’m pretty sure that if he was drafted on to a team that had 3 first team All-Pro lineman and another first team All-Pro RB, we would be debating right now if he is worth the 35 million dollar deal he was about to get. He hasn’t played all that badly even without those advantages... but he’s had a few patches.
Newton’s ceiling was league MVP so we know he is easily better than Dak. But he is also obviously breaking down before our eyes.

Winston is a turnover machine.... had the same problem at Florida State. Actually a little surprised it's followed him to the NFL.

Steve Young could run, Elway could Run. Give me a guy that can do both great all day long. The threat of the run and the ability to pick up first downs when the play breaks down is a powerful weapon. But if you cant throw, then it really doesnt matter.

So Cam’s CURRENTLY EASILY better than Dak because of how he played in 2015. Got it.

Anything that’s happened since is irrelevant.

Oh, and Jameis is right up there with Dak because of “potential”, or something. The actual results are irrelevant.

LOL you’re hilariously unknowledgable about football. Please keep posting and never change.

If I want a TD, I am sending Prescott. If I want crab legs, I am sending Winston.

I didn’t say he’s currently better than Dak troll. Learn to read. Although now, I will say it... yes he’s better than Dak currently as well.
If Dak was drafted by a team that was bad enough to get the first overall pick like Winston or Cam he would be in the XFL right now.
Is this going to kick off another session where you start screaming at me in all caps again? I can never exactly figure out which posts are going to trigger you into a rampage.

Dak was a turnover machine in 2017 when things got a little rough (oh no, instead of 3 all-Pro HOF caliber lineman, Dak, you’ll have to get by with 2 for a few games). It’s easy for a game manager to avoid interceptions, that’s their sole job. He’s also avoided touchdown passes as well unfortunately.

Yes and it’s really not close. Winston was never close and injuries have taken their toll on Cam.

Cam is older now, beat up, and is playing behind an oline that is FAR worse than anything Dak has ever even had nightmares of playing behind.
Not a fair comp.

As for Jameis...I do think Dak is better, straight up.

I'm surprised with the Winston bashing. I am blaming the playcallers. All of them were/are horrible. I think Koetter messed him up because Koetter don't believe in running the football. Winston never benefited from a good running and defense which resulted in many mistakes by him throughout his NFL career.

Right now, I think the Bucs defense is good and it is good that they are trying to run the ball but Leftwich is too conservative. Winston will benefit if/when Arians take over playcalling duties.

With that said, Dak is the better QB than Cam right now and Winston but I think Winston can be a good qb in the NFL.

I'm reserving judgement on Winston until after the season, not in any comparisons with Dak who i feel is significantly better, but because i want to see what Arians and Leftwich can do with him.
