OK, I've read here and on the old forum that the Eagles replaced the Skins as our most despised rival and I just can't abide that. Goes against everything I know that built the greatest rivalry in NFL history. Bigger than the Bears v Packers or Chiefs v Raiders when blood flowed.

So, I thought a thread with some historical information, personal as well, might blow a hot wind on that ember and get y'all crazy as I plan on being at kickoff. I live for East games but none more than Cowboys v Commanders.

Just to kick us off how about these names to set your teeth on edge. George "Slippery Palms" Allen, Joe "Jerkwad" Theismann, John "Camokaze" Riggins, Diron "Dukes" Talbert, Dexter "My Lips Ain't Movin" Manley, Jack "Is In The Box" Kent Cooke and Darrell "Wish He'd Played For Us" Green.

I know you younger posters are all about the Eagles but think of poor old Tom Landry. His former team, the Giants, were his nemesis until George Allen came along and would lick his hands, rub them together and grin across the field at Landry. That cool stoic face of stone would steel and you could see the fire in Tom's eyes and read his thoughts 'I'll apologize to Jesus later but that man is a SOB'. No coach in the game could get into Landry's head like George Allen and they both knew it.

So let's share some stories about this storied rivalry, nay feud, and they can be personal ones as well.

Diron, "the knockout specialist" Talbot. He relished seeing Staubach being knocked senseless. Roger would recover to cause him and his team much grief, when he'd continue being "Captain Comeback," joining his receivers to pull games out, with epic wins at the last minute -- heroic deeds, for sure!

it's true - the Eagles have easily surpassed Skins as most despised NFC East foe - but frankly it's more (FAR MORE) at those Eagles fans, than it has been the Eagles players, coaches, organization.
the Eagles fan base are just reknown legendary for their distaste and arrogance, ..i still remember them cheering on when Michael Irvin was hurt with the neck injury at Soldiers Field. ....That was as lowdown, hideous and arrogant as they come..!!:banghead:

They've done that to a few other visiting players around the league as well.
And there's no telling what the horror stories are and what they do/has been done to visiting Cowboys fans in the stadium stands.

Hate to admit it but I really have to admire the Eagles organization,. how they somehow managed to turn it around with da quickness, from the horrendous mess that was Chip Kelly, .. to actually
winning a Super Bowl -and even more. winning it over , of all NFL teams , Tom Brady/Belichick and the New England Patriots

- and even doubly more so, they won it with a freakin' backup QB in Nick Foles !! Sorry but that is such a damn Cinderella story as they will come in the history of the NFL.

I think in terms of ALL TIME rivalry divisional foes, the Commanders may still rank at the top there, because of the empire of George Allen and those damn Sweat Hogs, Fun Bunch, whatever back in the Joe Theismann/Dexter Manley/Riggins days ( I hated that Fog Horn they'd blow as well) but in todays era, it's easily going to be those darn Philly Eagles

I hate Giants and Commanders. But something about the Eagles and their disgusting fan base makes me hate them the most.

Cowboys Commanders was the best rivalry in football until Schneider took over the team. Prior to that I hated the Commanders but, I also respected them as much as I hated them. I hate the Eagles because they are classless, but I use to love to hate the Commanders.

Darryl Green and Brian Mitchell were some class acts and John Riggins was pretty much a Jerk at the time, but I loved what they brought to the rivalry.

It's hard to have a rivalry with a team when they suck.

The Commanders have been to the playoffs 6 times in the past 27 years

Won the division 3 times in the past 27 years

Have not won a playoff game since 2005

I don’t consider them a rival I consider them irrelevant

It’s their fans that treat every win like a Super Bowl I find annoying
