Why is Jeff Heath still starting?

The ball hitting a Safety in the back of the helmet is the most idiotic method of evaluating a Safety that I've heard.

Using that line of thinking, then x.woods having the ball hit him in his 2 hands while able to look it in and drop the pik , maybe pik 6, has gotta be much worse in terms of a evaluation

We focus on what Heath didnt do in the game and ignore the big plays that he has made. Could we find a better safety? Sure we could. We also could find a better slot corner, a better 1T, a better left guard as well. Heath plays hard and to the best of his ability.

That was the quintessential Jeff Heath game................. made a few plays/tackles, missed some others, had an interception and possible pick 6 bounce off his helmet because he wasn't looking for the ball.

But in reality, he's not a bad guy to have on the team................. in the right role. Starting strong safety isn't the right role.

Wilson has been injured and was limited in practice last week. Heath play has not been poor thus far. I hope Wilson gets a chance to compete but not going to pretend that Heath play has been detrimental to the team thus far

who would you replace him with? realistically....and will they be better? oh, yeah, Wilson, because he was so good against backup players in the pre-season....

I think Wilson will get his chances, he was injured in the last pre season game did not practice week 1 and was limited at practice in week 2. I'm not opposed to any player showing he deserves the opportunity to get playing time. He can do that by what he is showing the coaches through out the week. The more he does during practice the better chance he has to earn playing time. So far Heath play has not been bad, it has not been stellar but he has played well. I know other fans wants stud at every position, that is not going to happen.

I don't know anything about dead horses but I think you are right. I do however have experience with dead camels. When I was in the military we had to decommission one of our humvees because of some moran's decision to run over a dead camel that had been rotting in the desert. Hitting a rotting camel carcass is like hitting a brick wall and makes the maggots and blood fly up in the air and then fall from the sky like rain. That humvee smelled like death from then on. True story.

There is usually an event that triggers this thread though. I agree, getting hit on the helmet isn’t good enough, especially since I think it was a good play overall. He prevented a completion and forced a punt. That’s good enough for me. I thought he had a good game.

the poor defensive play isnt on HEATH..move on.. they ALL need to step up..No pass rush no INTs, tons of yardage , and against bad teams.. sad really.. Quinn should help..

So far we've been able to win with two mediocre safeties. They're without a doubt the weakest link on the team. You could still probably win a championship with them.

To be honest/fair , you can't blame defensive linemen for the inability of our defensive backs to hold onto the friggin' ball..................Or look for it while it's in the air...................Though I do agree the lack of a pass rush is concerning...........................

I can blame them for our Safetys needing to be LBs and having to make 10-12 tackles way down field.. look I said its TEAM D issue not heath issue..moving on..

two bad teams looked very good against us..thats sad..clean it uo stop using Heath as a scapegoat..
