Taco actually showed more in college and his first NFL year than Hill has. And where did that get him? Hill has zero clout IMO other than Marinelli's approval. And being backed by Rod is definitely no indication of future NFL potential. However, sure let's give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he does eventually pan out. Great. My guess is Rod is gone next year and Hill won't have anyone to cover for him anymore. You wanna pull for him, fine. I say he's going to be a bust.

Most of the scouts that covered Hill's college experience had him rated as a top ten at first. By the time the Cowboys drafted him, he was then regarded as a low first rounder. The Cowboys drafted him in the latter part of the 2nd round. I'm not surprised, in the least, that he requires more development, which isn't that bad, considering there are several others with considerable experience who are starting ahead of him. Regardless of what you're saying -- and you might be right, Hill will be given time to develop before he's really deserving of the premature label of being a "bust." Drafting is just an indefinite art!

I’m honestly surprised they couldn’t get a late round pick after his preseason....tells me there are bigger issues behind the scenes
Then you have to ask why the rest of the league knows about what's going on behind the scenes..

A first round pick got cut! OMG, really?

Is that the content you are posting now? lol

Yeah. Really. While homers like you try - and fail - to minimize it.

He got cut. It was a bad pick. It sucks. The team has to do better. Of course all that's true. But is it "monumental"? Is it a mistake of a "magnitude" that is unimaginable in the NFL"? Is it worthy of great drama? Should we lose sleep over it and think it is a sign the whole team is going to hell in a handbasket? Not even close.

Gloss over it because you’re not mature enough to handle the criticism.

Gloss over the fact that a first round pick hasn’t been cut this fast in 37 years.

But you fall to pieces if you wish.

And you make lame excuses if you feel you have to.

In recent years, he's in the company with Felix Jones and Bobby Carpenter.

Before that, there's Shante Carver.

The end of the Landry years landed us a handful of 1st round duds also.

Carver wasn’t close to this level of bust. Jones or Carpenter either.

You have to go back 37 years for this level of failure.

That doesn't bother me because no team gets it right every time, so all you can judge on is the overall effectiveness of the team's drafts, which have been pretty good for Dallas in recent years. In the same draft Solomon Thomas and Charles Harris were also pass rushers that have failed in the NFL, and both were drafted higher than Taco (much higher for Thomas). Harris would probably be on the verge of getting cut himself if he weren't on such a bad team.

Besides, half the board also felt that way about Travis Frederick, so the board isn't necessarily the best barometer.

Excellent post..........no question they blew this one but they've gotten waaaay more right than wrong.

More to playing then sacks. Armstrong is very disruptive when he;s in there.

Yeah. That roughing the passer call was huge too. Let me know when ‘promise’ turns into actual ‘production‘.

So......a lot of fans have been *****ing and moaning about how bad of a pick Taco was. No disagreement from anyone. Now that we've all acknowledged that, instead of continuing to talk about the mistake from three years ago, can we advance the conversation and give opinions about the move TODAY? Do you think that the FO deserves credit for bailing on a guy instead of stubbornly keeping a guy just because he was a high pick like many of you accuse the Joneses of? I think this move shows growth of the FO.

It says more about Taco than the Cowboys. He's either a real head case or min talent or both I suppose.

I think they had offers early on, just that the offers were not to the Cowboys standard or liking. Then as time went on the Offer’s dropped instead of increased and eventually teams got a look at him in Pre-Season and heard rumors of him acting up at Camp.

Leading to eventually teams pulling back all offers, since word on the street was that he would eventually be Released.

He won’t be a Free Agent longer than 24HR’s, Guarantee it.

The Vikings, Buccaneers or Bengals will sign him...
I can understand your assumptions. They are nothing, but assumptions though.
Maybe there were offers. Maybe there weren't.

There weren't.

That's what got us here today.

But not for a lack of effort on the Cowboys part. Thy showcased Taco during the preseason. That was stated back then. They gave him a lot of playing time and allowe him to shine against one of the league's worst offensive line.

And STILL couldn't get even a conditional pick for him.

I think that there are plenty of coaches that talk...I think it would be ignorant to think that they don’t
