Exactly what during his actual playing time did you see that gave him any justification to be throwing his weight around? All the rumors have said that he didn't work hard, was basically a malcontent, yet you want to stand behind him. This seems to be a pattern with you to buck any kind of authority. School must have been hard for you.
It was. I don't bow down to no man. At the end of the day they put their pants on one leg at a time like everyone else. Respect is earned not given. I mean it's worked out I'm pretty successful and raising my family in a good area with a little nest egg. With no help from parents or family. I don't get paid hourly maybe that's why I can relate. I'm no sheep I don't follow people around because they have a title. They gotta show me they earned that title. Especially with the Boomer era, too many empty suits.

So what do we want? Guys that can actually play, or guys that will be buddies with Marinelli. I still find it very strange indeed that Rod gives his Teacher's Pets names like "Golden Cock."

are you implying they're mutually exclusive? because taco hadn't demonstrated he could 'really play' up to this point.

This is so dumb. He's not a wal mart greeter like some of you. He doesn't get paid to show up. He gets paid to produce. Him not getting playing time because his coach doesn't like him is killing his future potential earnings. If I were him I would have done the same thing. If you aren't going to play me let me go so I can at least play somewhere and try to make a name for myself.

this has some merit, but at the same time, if the correlation of your playing time is directly related to you and your coach butting heads, you might want to preserve your opportunities at earning potential by.... not butting heads? at this point he's painted as a disgruntled, unmotivated bust that doesn't get along with his coach... does that scream earnings opportunity to you?

This is hardly surprising.

I'll ask the question that will piss some people off.

While I have little doubt Taco probably has his issues, is Marinelli too inflexible to maybe give an inch or two here or there to try to get a kid with some decent skills on the field and get him productive?

There is enough about Taco where this is probably mostly him, but I wonder if we have reached that point with Marinelli after 6 years that it might be time for a new voice and fresh ideas for the DL.

I don't think it's an unfair question. And there are two sides to it imo. At some point Taco needs to be a professional and just do what's asked of him. I remember reading something about him feeling like they weren't using him as a pass rusher and instead on running downs and how it frustrated him bc it didn't play to his strengths. So I see both sides of it, I get that he hasn't accomplished anything even though he's a first round pick and how he should just do what the team tells him to do, I also wonder why Marinelli wouldn't give in the slightest bit. I respect Marinelli and what he has done for defensive lines but I also feel like the team will take a step forward on defense when he leaves.

People complain on social media all the time. Just nobody cares. I have a wife and 3 kids I need my job. When you are dealing with millionaire athletes it's a totally different dynamic. He doesn't need to play for the cowboys. You don't think he expressed his greivances already with the staff and went straight to social media. Social media was likely his last resort

Whatever, man. IMO airing grievances on social media is a really bad idea. It's almost certainly not going to solve whatever the problem is, and it will probably anger the boss because of it being a privacy violation. Addressing it privately with his boss wasn't a guarantee to solve the problem, but it's the professional way to do it. Taco needed to perform well to do well in this job. He didn't, and social media is about the last place that can fix any of his problems.

Okay Marinelli needs to go. We gave up over 30 points in the last divisional rounds of the playoffs. Come on Jones's!

Maybe the only way we will know for sure is if he balls out some place else.

They said he refers to Xavier Woods as Sugar-Balls.

And our dumb-*** HC could not deal with this issue. It was Garrett's responsibility to deal with it. How long would Jimmy or Parcells have let this go with resolution.

Kick the punk *** kid out of the lockerroom! Jason was waiting for the process to take hold?

Men have ENORMOUS egos, particularly men of status, power, riches and fame. And men don't forget when they're slighted by other men.
Yes, I can see a clash of wills coupled with Taco not being a Myles Garrett-type player leading to his exit.

We also have to realize that these (IMO) are kids coming into play with the big boys. I think a few of our draft picks over the last few years weren’t even old enough to drink when drafted. And some were coddled and were big fish in a small pond in college. Step in somewhere as a kid and get paid millions before you even take your first live snap in the NFL. I think some come in feeling entitled and a chip on there shoulder. Once most go through there first camp and go against the bigger boys get put in there place.

A lot of testosterone and a sense of entitlement added to by millions of dollars and some immaturity and the culture they walk into by playing for this team. It seems to me like the culture here is set up for mature players that can handle it. Heck when I did a stadium tour you could buy lingerie for the wife or a new truck in the stadium. If they aren’t taught to earn respect from there parents or coaches at a younger age then it’s hard.

I find more disturbing that we have a coach who went 0-16 when he was the leader of a team and they value his input.
It's well known that Matt Millen was a horrible GM and crippled the lions talentwise. Martinelli was hamstrung by his ineptitude. We can thank Millen for DeMarcus Ware because the Lions were in position to take him and didn't.

If marinelli was actually a good coach you would have something here. It's up to the coaches to get the young guys to buy in and play hard for them. It's always been that way. My son's football coach absolutely sucks this year. I know next year he will be a freshman in hs and won't play for this bum again. All he wants to do is play daddy ball and play kids where they shouldn't play because their parents are on the city board and crap like that. If he had to play for him again I would have a problem.

Do you find it "hard to blame the coach" who campaigned for the team to draft Taco?
No, it was a miss. I mean I'm not as convinced as some that Watt would be the same player for us as he is in the Steeler's 3-4 scheme, but its not great. I also think we have been fortunate in some of our hits because several were backup selections when the 'plan' they had in mind got derailed.

I'm totally convinced if we drafted T.J. Watt he wouldn't be playing as well as he is in Pittsburgh anyway.
