Who cares what he made last year. He was a 4th round pick, and that is simply what they get. There isnt a salary schedule for 4th rd pick that end up being starting QBs. The article makes it clear... he makes a TON of money off the field BECAUSE of the Star. If he were the QB in Cincy he could kiss that money good bye. So if he makes 5 million less than what Cincy would pay him, but makes 30 million more because of where he plays..... which one is better? The better the team does, the more Dak makes.

You make it like it is the Cowboys fault that he gets paid like a 4th rd draft pick.

You completely missed the point and otherwise made irrelevant assertions. I bet Dak and his agent (you know one of the major parties that has to approve any deal) cares deeply about what his career earnings are.

The point is BECAUSE Dak was a 4th rounder and was paid like a 4th rounder (which is NOBODY'S "fault") while he was a starting QB on a team that went to and won in the playoffs (a simple fact), Dak Prescott (like R. Wilson prior) should NOT (and I believe will not) take nor deserves to take anything less than market value -- whatever that number is. I hardly believe that Dak is going to sit around and see Goff, for example, who has ALREADY made 50x more than he has, earn an additional 110 million guaranteed and say to himself: "nah, I am good...continue to pay me below market rate."

And Romo made a ton because of the star, so did Troy, so did Dez, so did Jaylon Smith, so did Tyron, so did J. Witten, so did Elliott, etc...and each took contracts that was near or at market rate ---many of which reset the market for their position. Why should Dak, the guy that barely has made couple of million 3 seasons plus into his career, take a penny less?

And your remarks regarding what contract/money Dak would make in Cincy is pure speculation. We will see what happens when/if say Baker Mayfield -- who pays in the same state, OH, accomplishes what Dak has...what kind of endorsement deals Baker will get.

Agree , wearing the star on the helmet doesn't belong in contract negotiations. What ever Dak's market value is he should get.

I think the guaranteed money has already been agreed upon and their just working out the fine details now. With a 100million plus contract, there are a lot of details.

Possibly, although, they're not going out of their way to divulge the details. Dak is one who's getting a generous share of wealth through his commercial endeavors. I'm just going by the media's way of describing his contractual likelihoods at present. I think he'll be pleased with whatever might be on tap for his contract, though. He has earned whatever the FO is willing to afford him, without a doubt, imho. I'm fairly pleased to see that he's not hellbent to become the highest paid QB in the NFL, though. At least, he's demonstrating a reasonable degree of humility. That's always good to see!

$50 mil worth of various endorsements and insurance monies are, undoubtedly, a friendly haul for someone of Dak's great talents. Of course, that 's not counting whatever he garnishes from his pending contractual agreement that's due to be agreed upon. He'll surely be a happy camper when that pending contract is granted. Life is extremely good, when you're a successful QB for the Dallas Cowboys! He'll be a happy man -- as if he's not already! ;)

They may have made a tentative agreement, but the way Dak is playing now, I'm pretty sure his agent is going to keep asking for more. Jerry should have signed him for slightly more than Goff money when he could have. Every week he's not signed is going to Jerry more and more. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the floor is now $35 million a year.

The Cowboys and Dak have mutually benefitted from their relationship. Sure being a Cowboys player, especially a marquee player like the QB of the Dallas Cowboys puts you in position to make some extra off field cash. No question. And Dak and other Cowboys have certainly benefitted.

But that doesn’t mean because he has some good deals off the field he should take a home town discount. All players (workers) deserve to get paid at market value for the job they do. If the Jones boys don’t want to pay Dak market value for a successful NFL QB, they are shooting themselves in the foot. Even decent QBs are hard to find in this league. That’s why they get paid so well. There would be a line of teams who would try to sign Dak if we didn’t. But I think this gets done.

The Cowboys need to sign Dak sooner than later. The price tag isn’t going to get smaller
