Interesting factoid for Jon Machota's article in The Athletic this morning:

McClay has helped draft six players who have gone on to make at least one Pro Bowl. The group, which consists of Zack Martin, DeMarcus Lawrence, Byron Jones, Ezekiel Elliott, Dak Prescott and Leighton Vander Esch, has combined for 13 Pro Bowl appearances, most of any team since 2014. The other three NFC East teams have combined for a total of 10. The same group of six stars has been named first- or second-team All-Pro a combined 10 times, which also tops all teams’ draft picks since 2014.

The only first-round miss in the bunch is Charlton.

Frederick doesn't technically count as a guy McClay drafted. Frederick was taken in 2013. It was that drafted that prompted McClay to be put into his current position. There was some chaos in that draft between the scouts and Marinelli. Marinelli wanted no part of Shariff Floyd but the scouts and, I believe, Jerry liked him. There was real confusion leading up to the pick because it turned out the scouts and coaches really weren't talking much to each other.

So Jerry installed McClay to be the point person to gather and process all the information from both the scouts and coaches, build the draft board, etc. His first draft in that role was 2014. He was director of football research prior to being elevated to Asst. Director of Player Personnel in 2014.

So I am guessing that's why Frederick isn't included in Pro Bowlers McClay drafted.

Gee, Nobody talks about how great it was for Rod to hate Floyd. Instead we get nonsense about his excitement over 7th rounders and his desire for Taco (who was, actually McClay's guy. Rod liked a different bust).

If it was a good pick, it was a McClay pick.

If it was a bad pick, it was some combo of a Jerry / Stephen / Garrett / Marinelli / Linehan pick.

And once the Forum picks a guy to take the blame, you either want them executed by firing squad or you are a pom pom waiving cheerleader.

Or how many times Marinelli took a guy like Terrell McClain off their living room couch and turned them into a solid player - without the team spending any draft pick at all.

That was the reasonTom Cisakowski got demoted. The scouts never changed the board when switched schemes. The scouts had Floyd graded as a 3-4 DL

Cute story.

However, the idea that an deeply involved owner who lives for the draft would have somehow forgotten there was a difference between 3-4 and 4-3 is ridiculous. As is the idea that an entire scouting department would ignore that.

Clearly, you'd fire Tom Cisakowski in a second if he was that dumb
