42 year old Tom Brady very successfully runs the QB sneak, why not Dak!

Last year vs the Rams in the playoffs our season basically ended late in the 4th quarter. On 4th and I, Dak turned and handed the ball to Zek who was 7 yards behind the LOS at the start of the play. Of course Zek was stuffed by Donaldson, Suh and half the Rams D. The QB sneak was wide open. A replay of the play shows a yard and a half gap between the 2 defenders on the left side of the center. Dak would have made the 4th down conversion easily by slanting slightly to the left on a QB sneak!!
Why doesn’t Dak run the QB sneak WAY more often on 3rd or 4th and 1. Brady is successful running the QB sneak on 3rd or 4th and 1 over 90% of the time. Dak is much more powerful than a 42 year old Brady. If the QB sneak is good enough for NE on 3rd or 4th and 1, how come it is not good enough for us? NE’s favorite play vs the Giants this Thursday was the basic QB sneak. It was successful EVERY time too!!

they still need to run the QB sneak. Something they rarely do. Most of those yards are either taking off when there’s nothing there or RPOs. Doesn’t really tell the story on clutch short yardage situations. Brady uses this a lot and excels at it.

I was literally screaming for a quarterback sneak before the Elliott fumble on fourth-and-one in the Saints game. The ball was near midfield with less than two minutes before halftime. Garrett and Moore were gambling anyway so why not sneak one for a first down?

I swear opposing players take it way easier on Tom Brady

Zeke behind Martin and Fred is a better option than a QB sneak. So is Dak on an option play.

This is funny because I wouldn't have expected it but Dallas was 27th in the NFL in 4th down conversions this year. But New England is dead last at 32nd.

Those statistics have nothing to do with the QB sneak. We all know Dak is a better running QB than Brady, but does he run the QB sneak as often or as effectively as Brady? I think if Dak started running the QB sneak more often on 3rd or 4th and 1 he would be as effective as Brady and more importantly we would convert more short yardage situations. The QB sneak should be an automatic call if no one is lined up over the center( I know it is an automatic play with Brady). This is simple stuff all smart teams should do, but their are times Dak hands off to Zek when no one is lined up over the center!(see Rams game, that ended our season last year)

A false premise was used to make your point. Brady admitted during his postgame talk with the Fox sideline reporter that that QB sneak is a rarity for him to try. I give him credit for making it but if he had more attempts doing it you see him not successful at that more often.

Dak has more rushing TD than Brady so it's not like he can't do it. And he has more successful QB sneaks than Brady in the time he has been in the league so your grip is specifically cherry-picking one game, granted it was a playoff game, where the QB sneak wasn't called.

Zek over his career has converted around 50% of his 3rd or 4th and 1 plays, while Brady is about 90% on 3rd or 4th and 1 when he runs the QB sneak. When the Niners of the mid 80’s, with all their weapons, had a 3rd or 4th and 1, Steve Young more often than not ran the QB sneak and made it similar to Brady.

NE is what 0-1 on 4th down so they are last in the league? So what!

Your wrong. Brady is smart. He wants other players to think he doesn’t run the QB sneak. If you have watched NE over the years you know Brady runs the QB sneak and is very successful at it. I haven’t looked it up, but I doubt Dak has run as many QB sneaks as Brady during the time Dak has been in the league.
Also, Dak hands of to Zek way to much when NO ONE is over the center! In that situation the QB sneak is almost a gimme on 3rd or 4th and 1.

I'm wrong? You admit you didn't look it up but I'm wrong? And where did I say Brady isn't smart?

Zeke is a rare hammer that few other teams have. Why would you opt for a QB sneak when you have a hammer in your toolbox. Why is Zeke being paid so much money if you aren't going to use him in those situations?

So you have a thought that is untested and unprovable. So if that is the game we are playing, I want to play too. I think If Brady had Zeke in his backfield, you'd never see Brady run the QB sneak either. :D

Agreed. I usually defend Dak, but Dak should have taken that sneak on that particular play vs the Rams due to the reason you explained.

Because Garrett is a clueless idiot. What more can you ask for.

I'm gonna post my theory...Jerry to Jason: "I paid $90 million for a RB and so we're gonna use our $90 million RB, Jason!"
