The offense and defense were bad. That's the only reason Maher mattered.

If you keep going back to the cookie jar, you'll get caught. Maher gave us 9 points, including a 62 yarder, to start the game. He accounted for 10 of the 22 points.

If you blame this on the kicker then you aren't thinking hard enough.

The difference in this game was Dallas going for it on 4th down down near the Jets goal line and not making it. I would have taken the 3 points there because that early in the game there is plenty of time to score, especially knowing this team starts slow and plays better in the second half. But let's be honest, the Jets outplayed Dallas the entire game when it mattered. Darnold threw for well over 300 yards and had a great pocket to throw from. Dallas made him and his mediocre receivers look like the greatest show on turf. For the life of me I do not understand why they were not blitzing him. And anyone who thinks that DT is not that valuable, watch this game. There was never any pressure up the middle on Darnold. No push at all. He had time to throw and he had lanes to throw. I have said it before and I'll keep repeating myself, until Dallas gets a DT who can push the pocket, their defense will always be unreliable.
