Connor Williams had a rock solid performance in the Jets game.

He had 1 penalty but otherwise his execution was almost flawless.

The penalty was borderline. He took a defender to the ground. That play is allowed in college football.

He does not physically overwhelm defenders but his timing and positioning was terrific.

CW is quite good on 2nd level blocks. Better than average.

Connor Williams is quietly becoming a good young player.

This has to be on of the worst analysis, Connor has cost the team 6 TDs so far, and you forgot the constant pressure up the middle as he was getting manhandled

I’m glad to see his technique get better. However that may be,I myself vote for a motion to have that name stricken from all foreseeable future titles. He’s a instant constipation for all ....and just first glance is invoking the name itself, has been a stinging reminder why we can’t do squat upfront without others help. Thank you..

It was our others that played poor. The jets were sending a extra guy and our staff never would adjust. He just stood in the pocket and got blown up. A few of those hits could have been flags...

Connor has his warts, but he ain't as bad as many of us believe. Also, XSF ain't as good as many of us believe. He struggled mightily in Houston. He was cut months after signing a FA contract with Tennessee before signing with us. He's a decent enough backup with zero upside.

Connor is young and will have his struggles. Nevertheless, he has a high ceiling. He might never reach it, but he has to play if it's to happen.

Do you have something beyond your word that you can share to substantiate your evaluation? PFF scores? Youtube play review?

I hate to say it but I agree. This week, he was not the worst of the offensive linemen. I also agree he is a good blocker on the move. But the OL is not playing well, overall. There is no push to their game right now.

Yup.

The love on this board for a subpar player in XSF is amazing. Dude just isn't very good.

Agreed. Sua-Filo is bigger and stronger than Connor Williams, but that's about it. Williams is a better athlete, has better feet in pass protection, can kick out and hit targets on the second level better, and has far better balance.

XSF is a major liability in pass protection. If he can't get his hands on a guy, he just whiffs. He has feet of stone and simply can't recover in time to quick interior rushers. He's a statue.

I agree.

I wonder if he really is 100%..........of course we all were used to him being a road grader. Something doesn't look right with him.

It might not be until next year when we see the Travis Frederick we're used to seeing. He's still better than most of the centers in the league, but his strength and coordination is still probably not where he was pre-illness. It's something that just takes time.

No team plays well with both OTs out with injury. But what fans always underestimate is the reps required for an OL to play together, develop timing, do block handoffs seamlessly, etc.

Last year in the Rams game we had 2 DTs playing when they should have been off the field and the Rams had an OL that had played together for the entire season. On top of that the Rams had a great blocking scheme for the game. Put those three together and your defense gets killed, but you have to have the whole unit playing together most of the season to have the cohesion to execute that kind of scheme in the first place.
