DT Justin Ellis is available as a FA. He was a 4th round pick of the Raiders and was given an extension a couple of years ago before being released by Gruden. He was a teammate of X. Woods in college and is more of the run stuffer type. I say give him a shot.

Really? No kidding....been saying this. Cowboys Break said it themselves weeks ago,it’s not as if this is news he isn’t strong enough to handle NFL players yet. Not sure why people are soooooo late to the party on this but whatever....

Hill does lack power (and technique) but in fairness that was a double team.

He absolutely a project. I thought some of his traits would pop by now. I haven’t given up on him but he looks like he’s a long way from contributing.
A project is putting it mildly.

He’s so far off from being a legitimate NFL lineman. I have no freaking clue what they saw in this guy.

I agree with the consensus he needs time and during the BYE we should go find a seller for a solid DT that can help us the 2nd half..

I'd say more like lower 1st into 2nd, yes

Jaylon Smith is a good example

Smith was an injury pick. They knew he had talent and produced in college. It was a matter of whether he would be healthy.

Hill is a guy with limited production in college that they took a flier on thinking they could mold raw skills into something.

Hardly the same situation.

I've heard rumors that a few NFL teams had 6th round grades on Hill and at least one team took him off their board.

I think we were trying to be clever. Too early to tell for sure, but not looking good at all so far.

Trying to replicate Frederick I guess.

But Frederick showed right from the start he could play.

I have no idea what Marinelli/Richard were thinking. That first play in the video was a disaster from the get-go. I didn't see the second play.
LBs are 5 yards off the LOS.
3 of the 4 DL (Jackson, Hill, and Woods) are looking at double teams.
DE Joe Jackson gets ridiculously blown back 5 yards by the TE. Hill gets blown back, not as much as Jackson though. Woods gets blown back.
Hyder isn't even in the picture since he is so wide.
Jaylon Smith hits the gap late and weakly. Lee looks like he has backside responsibility but is in no-mans land.
Luckily, Wentz doesn't keep it and go around the edge because no one was there to stop him.

Key takeaway I saw: not one of the 4 DL or 3 LBs were in a position to succeed against the run. As a QB, the play screams run. The Eagles have 7 blockers on 4 DLs with 3 LBs 5 yards off the LOS. On that play you could swap out Hill with Aaron Donald and likely get a similar result.

I don't know what the down and distance was on that first play in the video. But there was no way the Cowboys were stopping a run with that defense.

We're only halfway through Trysten Hill's rookie year and already he's a bust?

Let's give him at least another year before we start berating him, ok? Thanks!

I'm sure the C-boys' staff is aware of his weakness. It'll be the weights for him.

I know.. I just wanted someone to come here and lie and say hes playing at a pro bowl level.. just because they wanted to draft him over Hill. So average play is balling out now? Good to know.
lol right not sure what avg is but 20tackles, 1 int, no FF or Sacks..?:angry:im thinking avg
