I fear what is in store for this team with Michael Bennett this coming Monday Night...

What is there to fear? The off chance that a 33 year old doesn't play quite up to "expectations" set by us, the fans?

What do we have to lose? If he's great, awesome..if not, then so what? We gave up a 7th rounder that won't become a 6th if he's garbage, because they'd more than likely cut ties.

This kind of surprised me that marvelous spoke so highly of the organization........I was thinking he was pretty bitter when he left.

As he said, he didn't like playing for Garrett, but that's likely only because he was underutilized. I think the further he gets from the situation, the less important it becomes. He went on to have a nice career, even getting a Super Bowl title. He just had a different view of what his career was:

"I never felt at home at any of the places that I played, honestly," Bennett said on the Dave Dameshek Football Program Podcast. "I looked at myself as a consultant. So my job was to go into wherever this place was that needed a tight end and I would consult at the tight end position until they found another tight end better than me or my consultation was over, then I had to go consult somewhere else.

"So I look at every single player as an independent entrepreneurial company. I don't think every player views themselves as that, a lot of players view themselves as working as part of a larger corporation and being owned at that corporation and having a job there. I feel like the tight end position is my skill, it is my job and when you need someone to fill that position you hire me. But it's only on a contract base, it's not full-time employment."

Yeah, I'm not sure what some are expecting. Are they expecting him to just come here and destroy team chemistry? Are they expecting him to get on the field and not play well on purpose?

We acquired him for a seventh/sixth and if he doesn't help the team, we can move on from him without much damage done. So it's either he adds to the team or he's gone. I think that's a pretty good position to be in for the Cowboys.

I think he'll help if simply no reason than he's better than Trysten Hill and Joe Jackson. We have a four-man rotation at end now of Lawrence, Quinn, Bennett and Hyder. We have a four-man rotation at tackle now of Collins, Woods, Bennett and Covington. Neither of the rookies need to see the field again until next year unless we're blowing out an opponent.

I think Bennett is still a great player ....... Only worry I have is how he will influence the younger players on the roster.

Hopefully he will be a great asset to this team.

Charles Haley was a horrible human being and he helped the team ....... Bennett is nowhere near that bad.

I can respect those words. We are all full of piss and vinegar when we are young. At least he knows he played a part in how things went in Dallas.

Exactly. Given the benefit of hindsight, and wisdom that comes with age and experience, he can now admit his part in why things didn't work out. It's also refreshing to hear honesty about him not wanting to play for Jason.

I really appreciate honesty. It's too often in short supply
