I was a junior in high school in 1991 and my dads neighbor had a German Shepard that had puppies and I took one, this was a bad part of Ft. Worth and no telling what would happen to the puppies so without asking my mom (that l lived with) I took a male, named him Emmitt and he was the best dog I could have ever had, the day I put him down in 2002 was beyond painful, sorry bud.

I just ain't got it in me any more,bro,in fact I need to flee fast away from this thread,cuz' I'm feeling that "creep" coming up on me, nevertheless,you have my heartfelt condolences,my Friend.

I'm so sorry to hear that, CLE. Dogs bring so much love into our lives and their loss brings so much pain. A friend told me "Those who love much, hurt much". Another told me to take as much time as I need to grieve. I grieved so hard over one particular dog that I ran out and got a puppy within days of losing her. No dog on earth could replace The Bitty, but no dog could replace Puddin either. It hurts just remembering.

Just take care of yourself right now and give yourself permission to feel what you feel. Honor your pet in a way that seems right to you. If you need us, we'll be here for you.

So very sorry for your loss and prayers to you during this difficult time.

Been through it many a time and it is probably the worst feeling in the world.
They are like family.

Yes indeed. Well said. In fact, dogs and other animals bring more than that into our lives. In a way, they make us more complete than we otherwise would be. Their companionship and unconditional love is inspiring, cheering, and really needed. It's hard to imagine getting on without our friends like that. Even animals you wouldn't expect to be friends with you can carry so much in your heart and bring so much more. I truly do believe that animals do have their own soul and personalities. Not like ours. But their own ones. For example, there's this snake I've known for a long time. God willing, I'll see him over Thanksgiving as he's at a school I which I'd volunteer during summers as a kid. He's a ball python. He's been such a blessing, and his calm and friendly demeanor really helps me when I'm not feeling so happy.

Like everyone here that posted before me, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. You lost a family member today. No other way to say it after 11 years of watching one grow. 11 years of emotional support you and your family shared. There really isn't enough words to explain the grief you must be feeling. All we can say, is we too have been there. If you need someone to talk to, we are all here for you.....

I understand your loss. It's not an easy thing to have to go through ...this I know from experience.... I'm sure you did all you could, and what you had to. ..I can't prove it, but something always tells me that one day...somehow... we all will see our beloved pets again!
