Yep. The gif Future linked to showed Covington immediately slant to the outside which puts pressure on Bennett to slide over from the 1 to fill that gap while taking on a blocker. The play call makes no sense at all as it creates a giant hole where the 3t was which is exactly where he ran through. And it allows two OL to get to the linebackers. Mind boggling.

I thought bennett was also at the 3 as he did get some push and almost made the tackle. either way there is no reason someone doesn't get a hand on the center.

And where is 55 going? Is he rushing the passer? That screenshot says a lot. 54 is covering who exactly? The receiver who is waiting for the ball to be snapped? LOL

I could meme the heck out of this image if I wasn't a lifetime fan.

Notice that 3 backup DL are on the field at the same time. The moment teams see this personnel package they are running to the left side and licking their chops..

We don't need better backups. Our D line need to get in condition and play more snaps. Better players need to play. This constant rotation marinelli does is garbage. Our $100 million DE plays less than 70% of snaps.

Less rotation isn't necessarily better, but it's a reasonable place to look into, particularly at DE.

This 70% rotation needed to be factored into dline contracts. Can't pay full time prices if you're not getting full time play. Guys like Bennett and Quinn fit what Marinelli does. Quality older players who need more rotation, and whose prices reflect that.

4.5 sacks so far this year by the 100 Million Dollar Man. On pace for 7. Bennett is on pace to beat that in half a season. From DT.

I think it's Hyder at the 3?

.......and he barely survives that 70%.

That's the other side of the pancake with Lawrence. He has petered out in the back half of the last two seasons with health issues. Hard to say that that will happen this year, as he never petered in in the first place. 4.5 sacks so far after 10 games.

In the last 24 games, Lawrence has 9.5 sacks.

I am so sick of us mass substituting on the line. I don't think Armstrong, Covington and Hyder are terrible backups, but they are backups and never should all be in there together at the same time.

This is a nice catch.

But it's not just that they're backups coming in a wave, they're backups with similar weaknesses.

Covington at 1T, Hyder at 3T, and Armstrong at DE are our weakest players against the run at each position. You can do one at a time, but you can't do them all together this way.

A team that noticed that players are not interchangeable cogs would know that you can't do this.

Idk why it’s so hard for this team to see they need a fatass strong guy in the middle.

And the sad thing is, decent 1-Techs aren’t terribly hard to find. They’re easier to find than this unicorn-like 285lb 3-Tech that’s good at rushing the QB and stopping the run that Rod is always desiring.

If Rod doesn’t want a fatass 1-Tech, he needs an elite player like Aaron Donald for his scheme to work, and we do not have that. Hardly any team does.
Aaron Donald is pretty much the only one...

The 24 hrs to get over that game has expired. It's time to move on, we have the Patriots to discuss.

Its like a disease in Dallas. Guys get paid and they immediately start tapering off. Zeke bugs me a lot more, though. DLAW has put together

This run brought back my PTSD from the Packers and Vikings games where teams were gashing us repeatedly between the RDE and DT. We can claim scheme is the problem and it partly is. But on nearly every one of those big runs we had Covington getting blown up by a single G or C. And on this run Covington is again blown off the line opening a massive hole for the RB. Armstrong takes the outside rush and is easily taken out if the play. At the 3:30 mark.

It's that stupid scheme that they run all the opposing team does is have to be patient and wait for them to hit those gaps pick where not 80% of the time we overrun the play and make it even easier for the Run because of that stupid Gap defense now when we played silly we played that sparingly and look what happened

DLaw had already been tapering off. 5 sacks in the final 14 games of the 2018 season.
We had all been noticing Zeke's decline by last year.

Even with the early season injury, DLaw is following the pattern of tapering off after the first 4 games.
First 4 - 2.5 sacks, 6 hits
Last 6 - 2 sacks, 6 hits
Last year, games 5-10 - 2 sacks, 5 hits

We went back to paying guys for what they did in the past, not what they are likely to do in the future.

ummm, it was 25y, and we got caught blitzing

Covington was moved out by an influence block but it was Hyder who was straight pancaked
freeze frame at 3:34 Hyder is on the ground and Lee barely getting off his block (after never attacking his gap)

they called a simple R/P from a bunch, as soon as LVE crossed the LOS it was a weak side run vs even numbers

Woods should have met Bo in the hole - there was no deep threat

Covington could have done a better job (not sure if he's able) but he was hardly the worst defender on that play

This coming year in the draft / FA assuming we resign our more important players like Cooper/Dak etc. We need to upgrade safety/DT in the draft as the top priority. I would then grab a CB after that due to our current players on rookie contracts coming up.

Losing BJones & ABrown, makes getting a starting CB in the 1st 2 rounds more a top priority over safety. We drafted S Donovan Wilson but some reason coaches don't play him.
