With a business associate who is a huge Pats fan - but, a reasonable one and a genuine student of the game. When Dallas had the ball with 2:38 left, a full compliment of time outs and needing to score a TD to win - I made the remark that, "If Dak wants the money, all he's gotta do is go win it."

My friend said, and I quote; "There's no way the league will allow that to happen. The refs will see to it that Tom gets this win. It's been going on for years up here and we all know it. It's to the point where it's almost embarrassing." Three plays later the phantom tripping call -

His next remark was .. "See, I told ya. Dallas couldn't have come in here with a Hall of Fame team and won. It's really not any fun watching them play here in Foxboro .. the outcome is a foregone conclusion."

I officiated many seasons at the NCAA level and left because pressure was applied to, "ensure we had a good, entertaining game." I'll just leave it at that. I've always felt like the pros were above that because it's all about the money with no pretense but, it seems now there are other things at play ... personal agendas, manipulating outcomes for whatever reason.

After 53 years .. I'm just about done.

Now, I don't care what you think about this post as to its validity or my friends sincerity or whatever - all I'm doing is relaying an actual conversation.

The call was bad enough, but having to endure the spin from Mike P is what really infuriated me. That was some 1984 level propaganda spewing from his mouth. This league is a corrupt joke and it's going to one day catch up to them. This country is yearning for the Cowboys to be good again but it seems like every time we're on the brink these idiots find a way to screw us with their zebra crooks. Seems like they are latched on to that Patriots bandwagon at least until Brady retires.

There is no fix. Just favoritism by the NFL. One that that can be fixed is a football game. Then have color commentators and people like Mike Pereira get paid to lie to people's faces about these types of calls.

Not only is it embarrassing to the league. But its also embarrassing to people who believe that there isn't any type of favoritism that exist in the NFL. Dez Bryant's non-catch and these two phantom calls are just proof.

Sad that it's a fact. I can recall a conversation with an acquaintance that uttered something similar, and he too had ties in professional gaming. As a matter of fact, I believe it was NBA.

I didn't want to believe it, but it seems all too apparent sometimes. I get one bad tripping call.......but TWO????? At least pick a more common penalty to cover your ruse...

I believe it and have been to several games at Foxborough. I’ve overheard Patriots fans saying to one another when the opposing team is on the move, not to worry that the zebras will put an end to the drive.
How many games this year have been affected by bad calls...
Did anyone notice the shot of the head referee talking to Belichick during the game and patting him on the stomach smiling...
They don’t even care to disguise it anymore as if an apology the day after by the league will make things better...
This league is broken, has been for years and nobody cares as long as the money keeps rolling in

My cousin is an official in basketball games, and he tells me these same things, along with the fact that many referees take out personal grudges on particular players that they have problems with. This attitude and lack of integrity in life is why sports has become a joke.

It's almost impossible to prove a fix, due to evidence is hard to get if you can't catch ppl. Talking about it or admitting to it, but favoritism isn't hard to prove, because visible evidence pretty much is enough proof, but I would love to hear the conversations between the officials and the NFL, especially the higher officials in closed door meetings, along with emails and such. I have no doubt on my mind, that the officials totally understand the situation in the NFL with the patriots ,. The cowboys, Jerry Jones, and Goodell. Along with other teams like NYG. If they cared about fairness, the NFL would actually discipline and make a public apology to the public and make sure these things are taken care of to not even have the appearance of favoritism. The Dez catch , still bothers me, and totally convinced me of the corruption of the NFL. Plus, the fact that GOODELL was proven a liar!! How he has stayed in the NFL proves to me, the "corrupt ible" nature that runs the NFL. Go do a check on why Goodell is in the NFL, who's his connections, family, and organisations he's connected to, and then this makes total sense. GOODELL has no good reason to be in his position.

It's not just about the BS calls. It's also about the non-calls. I remember Romo taking shots all the time that were obvious roughing. They were rarely called. Our loss in the GB playoff game comes to mind. It's also the infamous non-catch game...

Sunday was a clear example of officials subtly yet blatantly influencing the outcome of a game. It was disgusting. A game where yards let alone first downs would be difficult to gain, let's just essentially nullify 2 drives with bogus tripping calls. You don't think that affects the expected result of the game??? I introduce you to the NFL Analytics division.

New England is known for cheating. They have no consequences to fear because they know the right people at the right positions (Mara comes to mind).

I dont care about NE anymore and what they probably are for a long time now. When you cheat and it was proven time and time again and you dont have to fear any consequences then i take my right to doubt anything you have achieved in the past or will in the future.

I treat NE just like a team that does not exist. If they win the SB idc.

Why did the refs let Baltimore beat the crap out of the Patsies?

On one of the Patsies early drives the Cowboys defense hit Brady late and there was no call. They ended up with 3 rather than 7. If the refs are so hell-bent on making sure NE wins, they could have made that call. Brady almost always gets that call, but somehow it was missed for the 1st time in 15 years.

I believe the OP's story, but I have a very hard time believing in conspiracy theories. 50 years later and a few people are still convinced NASA never landed on the moon.
