I think I know what it might take for this team to live up to its expectations . . . it'll take another coach who pays attention to details and isn't afraid to demand many things that players might object to. He's weak when push comes to shove.

JG simply is a guy who engenders a propensity for failure, even though he certainlyly is in denial of it. He projects a willingness to try hard but fails to do the many things that make success attainable in the end. His idea of readiness and the truth are two different things.

The Cowboys need a tough minded coach who is totally capable of delivering the physical conditioning and mental toughness that is sorely required. The current Cowboys are devoid of what it takes to arrive at a state of readiness to compete with the better teams of the NFL. That must change.

So in games we score 30+ and win we act like it was a failure? Yeah he lost the team long ago.. Sometimes you just gotta build on the good. Meh

Coach speak doesn't mean **** when you can't coach. So you're a good motivator? Congrats! Learn how to manage a damn game, or how to coach in 2019 with analytics, or how to make halftime adjustments. I couldn't be more sick of this dudes schtick. The newest member of this team, ONCE AGAIN, is the one stepping up and motivating. He's also constantly lined up offsides and I guarantee no one is saying anything to him. Why? Because there is even less accountability on this team than coaching talent.

Old boy is toothless.
If he wanted his team to meet his expectations, he should have been more disciplinary on his players.
They are making so many knuckleheaded mistakes... start the benchings! Even if for a series, or two!
If your boss, the GM, is saying this team is super-deep, show him just how it rolls when you have to start teaching real lessons to these sloppy Joes.
Jerry complains? Hey man, you assembled this deep team, let me get this engine running correctly. It's my job.

Toothless coach, toothless team.

JG was right: your team takes on the characteristics of their coach.

Weird. Why is he always saying they did a good job then. And always clapping. You'd think if you were constantly underperforming to your expectations you'd be mad or upset or would actually do something about it.

Garrett needs to go be a CEO somewhere where this kind of BS corporate spin belongs

So he just can't get his team to play up to at least expectations for even a single game?
I guess exceeding them is going to be impossible.
His comment made zero sense.

It was like he channeled Jones for a moment and talked nonsense.

The problem with the Cowboys is that nobody in a position of authority or leadership is ever honest, open and real.

We get cliché, optimism and fluff that is over the top.

They all say they have a standard. But what is that standard? Do just enough to be relevant? You do notice that the Super Bowl as a goal has shifted at times. There is no consistency. They measure success in profits and relevance, not winning football games. It is exhibited by the grotesque stadium and ridiculous tolerance for underachievers.

Garrett is a supreme politician. He knows how to work the crowd to a point.

Even Stephen Jones lost his cool on the radio today.

The key is for the media to keep pounding all three of them. Eventually the Joneses will cave and dump Garrett.

We will all be better for it.

this my friend is the POST OF THE DECADE......been asking same thing for YEARS

What does this ineffective, inept, meek, man-child DO to earn $6 million annually?........because he certainly does NOT do anything remotely close to COACHING
he says yes sir to jerry real good, and makes up fight T shirts, and tells them to give away their div caps because they are going to the SB ! lol.
it is hard to fathom he is paid that much isnt it?

It's high time for more than verbal utterances to overcome the barriers that this team encounters before it's prepared to be serious contenders. Garrett is good at verbally delivering the messages that encourage such efforts and the desire to succeed. What he is ill prepared to do is to render his charges actually capable of performing at a level capable of realizing such lofty expectations. Maybe there is one who can! Let's just sign him, shall we?
Is it humanly possible to find one who can be his own man? Let's hope so! Please, let it be so, Jerry!

We can turn the page once Garrett leaves but the next chapter will have similar symptoms with the same dysfunctional leadership.

We’ve been watching it for almost 25 years.
Next puppet up!!
