We have a contender, that just need a great coach, if that's not a reason Don't know what is.

It is an reason but Jerry would never give up the control. Bill wants an owner that sits in the box and writes checks. He won't want the hassle of the cowboys.

Belichick is not coming to Dallas but if you want to work an angle that he might I’d say Jerry still owes Kraft an **.

Also, Jerry has the financial where with all to make it very much worth his while.

Bob Kraft is worth $7 billion and has never been shy on spending it on the Pats, and doing so without inserting himself into the scouting process like Jerry. Whatever reason Belichick would have to leave, it's not financial.

you'll see Cooper in New England before Bill in Dallas. There is no rebuild in NE. They have a top 3 D and are arguably 1 legit receiver away on the O. No cap problems. With the way the Dis playing all they need is a game manager like Brady was the 1st 3 SB wins.

The literal reason Jimmy only has two SB rings is that Jerry couldn't stand the idea of him winning a 3rd without Jerry getting more of the credit. The only thing less likely to happen than Jerry bringing in someone with a higher profile than him is Belichick willing to suscept himself to Jerry's meddling.

If you think winning is the only thing is winning for Jerry, and not the winning itself being a huge celebration of all things Jerry, you haven't been paying attention for 25 years.

I agree the past 25 years have been mostly about Jerry's ego. But I don't think bringing in a coach like Belechek is analogous to Jimmy. I love Jimmy Johnson, but the man is an egomaniac and he was socially very rude to Jerry. He looked at Jerry as a football buffoon and treated him accordingly. BUT, though Jimmy came up with the Walker trade and worked out all the details, it was Jerry who talked Walker into accepting the trade and paid him 1 million dollars thus making it possible. Without Jerry coming to the rescue, that trade never happens. Jerry also brought in Charles Haley and sold him on Dallas. So, Jerry had a right to think he deserved some credit AND more respect from the men he paid. We all know the story.

Well, its 25 years later and here comes Bill Belechek.............a man with nothing to prove and half Jimmy's ego. I don't think there would be any kind of battle for credit, b/c Belechek doesn't require it. Its a completely different dynamic.

Good point, thanks for a rational answer, you are in the minority.

Yep Jerry and Jimmy needed each other, neither has fared well since the split , what a shame ...

I'll give you that, a good point, but I still think the perception would be too much for Jerry's ego. He didn't stick with Garett this long because of the brilliant coaching and playoff wins that have happened here for the last 10 years.

Assuming that Jerry and Garrett part ways at seasons end consider the following :

1. The Hoodies contract goes season to season, so he would be free to come to the Cowboys after the NFL season is over.

2. BB has history with Jerry.
He helped the Cowboys with player contracts before getting into coaching in the NFL.

3. The Story about Bill asking Jerry for a job in the 1990's just came to light after all these years ..hummmm.... that's interesting to say the least.

4. Jerry is 77 years of age and had be realizing his mortality.
You can't take it with you, and if Jerry wants another Superbowl, he has to see that his window is closing.
Will that mean he would give up the control he enjoys ?
He did do with Belichick's mentor Parcels so it possible.

5. The Patriots are on the way down, Brady is showing his age.
Does Bill want to be part of a rebuild ?

6. The Cowboys are quality coaching away from being a legit contender.
They have a quality core and just need a coach that can tap the potential.

7. The Dallas media has mentioned that Mr. Jones is going big game hunting for the next Head Coach.
Do they get any bigger than BB ?

Hey this is a long shot to happen , but it may be be more realistic than any of us thought.

Make it happen Jerry !!!
This would be the ultimate hire !!!

I picked the wrong weekend to stop METH.
