What does Baltimore, Minnesota, San Francisco, Seattle, Buffalo, and Houston have in common? Other than being playoff-bound football teams?

They're all running the football often and effectively this year. They lead the league in rushing. Running the football has been key for many of the top teams in the NFL.

Yet, Dallas has taken it's foot off the gas and become much more pass-happy. I guess, because they were told in the offseason that this is a passing league. Dallas is constantly reacting to what outsiders say they should do.

Sure, the Cowboys still run more than most teams, but the bulk of those rushes are early in games. Zeke has fallen into the background while they ask Dak to carry the team by air.

Newsflash for the Cowboys: Dak isn't and will never be Drew Brees or Patrick Mahomes. Pay attention.

Running the ball has been frustrating at times, but even when it's working, the Cowboys abandon it routinely. Against Buffalo, Zeke had a quick 50+ yards early on, then he only got five carries in the second with the game well in reach.

This team has no identity, even when it's stared them right in the face for years. It's maddening. They need to stop trying to be trendy and be what they are. Zeke and Pollard and a salty offensive line. Scheme to make it more effective. Stop quitting on it.

Run the damn ball.

We do need to run the ball, but not just willynilly. We need a guy on staff who understands running the ball so we run it more effectively. This crapp of just pounding it up the middle is not working, especially w/ our blocking scheme. If we're going to do that, we need some maulers up front instead of movement OL's.

Been screaming it. Even when it’s being shut down you have to keep them off guard. Play action don’t work real good if you don’t run the ball.

Yep, Dak is doing his best to prove to Jerry and Sons that he is most deserving of a top 5 QB mega-deal and as they say it is now Dak's team.
For us who have been believing and posting here for the last few years that this offense is Zeke's and Dak is just a glorified Bus driver have been vindicated.
How you may ask? Well at 6-6 and not 1 win against a team vs a winning record this season the Dak run offense is another massive failure!
This team since 2016 owns whatever success they have had to #21 and now that Dak has taken over what we are seeing is a QB who's first priority is padding his stats usually against dog teams or in Garbage time as our losses are piling up.
Dak-Friendly=ineptness at its finest.....

Why is it that people invariably try to solve the team's problems by focusing on the part of the team that isn't a problem?

The Cowboys are 2nd in yards per drive and 4th in points per drive. The disparity can be explained by the fact that they have the worst starting field position in the league.

The problems with this team are defense and special teams, not offense.

I love Columbo for the hard-nosed gritty player he was, but he doesn't appear to be capable of coaching.
I blame JG for not resigning our O-Line coach. He lets him walk and hire his buddy that got fired from the bengals. Then we had to fire him.

Dallas scored 10 points against New Orleans, 9 against New England and 15 against Detroit, so offense has been a problem in three of our six losses.

What team are you watching?

Dallas Offense:
2019: Yards per drive: 2nd, Points per drive: 4th
2018: Yards per drive: 15th, Points per drive: 17th
2017: Yards per drive: 9th, Points per drive: 9th
2016: Yards per drive: 6th, Points per drive: 4th (but with much better starting field position and much better FG kicking than they've had this year).

Again, the problem is defense and special teams, not the offense.

What are we talking about here? What they have in common is that these offenses - except Baltimore - are all miles behind the Cowboys. The Cowboys have more rushing yards than the Texans and Bills if you take QB yards out of it and are a top-10 run team. They and Seattle (10th in passing) are the only two of those teams in the top-10 in both categories, and Dallas is 10th in the NFL in rushing attempts, ahead of Houston.

We can wax poetic all we want about smashmouth football and whatever, but it's irrelevant in today's NFL. Teams who can't throw the ball don't win. Did we forget what Seattle tried to do when Dallas, you know, beat them in the playoffs last year?

B/c they've lost two games where the opponent has scored a total of 1 touchdown.

The offense is the best in the league and is still the Cowboys largest problem - that's how terrible Jason Garrett is lol
