Leagues leading tackler.
As many or more sacks then the rest of the top 15 tacklers in 2019.
As many or more forced fumbles then the next 18 top tacklers in 2019.
His career high in pass deflections already with 3 games to go.

Like the guy alot but I have noticed some things about him..

Last night they isolated him in pass plays. At one point they threw at him until they scored.

Each time he was beaten but their QB was inaccurate each time..not Smith providing good coverage.

Jaylon is fine if the offensive player is square up on him, but if the offensive player is going off on an angle..Jaylon has to turn and pursue. He's slow doing this.

He is better when Wolf Hunter is playing. He covers for Jaylon alot.

Also he runs much better going to his right and not left. I assume this is due to his surgery. Do not know.

So as I said..I like him alot but not sure he will ever be a complete lber again.
So good to have my Redball back.
Keep it coming, you magnificent shizzmeister!

..you cant fix instincts. You have em or you dont. He doesn't have em'. Will get lucky on occasion. How many times is the guy out of place, when transecting the ball? More than half the time.

It’s called playing press man coverage and not sitting middle of the field waiting for things to happen by you.

If you want him to cover put him at line and let him get physical with TEs and RBs

Send him to Buffalo along with fat boy Elliott for a mid round draft pick. They like are players that suck
….and they would be deep in the playoffs, while Lee, Witten, Maher, Frederick, Martin, TSmith, BJones, DLaw, Coop, Dak watching, and Kellen and the rest continually getting passes, and excuses handed on a silver platter.

Umm when he was "isolated" i saw him with back to back PD on the TE in the 4th quarter. Smith will always have to work extra in change of direction because of his injury, I hear all this about Jaylon having a bad yr.

120 tackles 2.5 sacks 5 TFL 3 QB hits 6PD 2 FF 1 FR

IDK what would be a good season for you people.

Has he had bad moments during the yr? Of course everybody does. Has he had plays where he totally whiffed on a play, like every other player in the NFL. Has he been solid for the entire yr? Yes he has. Having no protection from the interior DL has made not only Smith but Vander Esch and Lee have to get through blocks and double teams to get tackles.

I watched him play at ND quite a bit and he has never returned to that form and I don't think he will. He was a terror in college in playing the run and not only covering backs but WR's 20-30 yards down the field as well as rushing the passer. He was that guy the QB found across the line every time.

More than the offense the defense is all about team and one player missing can really have a negative effect. Look at Roy OU Williams after Woody retired, he wasn't the same player. Look at the effect Haley had on the front 7.

If you see a MLB on any NFL team making a lot of plays, look at the DT's in front of him and how many OL they're occupying.

I think the O staffs have studied enough film on Smith to know what he can't do well and they try to make him do it.

Assuming LVE and Smith are our LBs for the next 5 to 10 years, we need to invest in a different type of DT. Neither LVE or Smith are bangers. They are athletes that like to run to the ball. Put a couple of monsters in front of them that occupy blockers. Scheme needs to change too. Stop penatrating on every freaking play! Way too easy to create running lanes, while allowing your OL to peel off and attack the LBs.

Yes he has.

My comments were only my observations. Not a building critique.

Identifying player weakness is part of winning and losing.

I fully expected a falloff from last year. He was great as would Wolf Hunter.

In fact Wolfie being out is part of Smith's problem. They play well together. I would like to see Jaylon in the pass rush more.

But we do not blitz much. When we do..its a safety like Darrian Thompson which works OK but we need more.

We been saying this for years.

Trystan Hill is that type guy but they have been slow developing him.

Should have been thrown out there word go. Marinnelli has to go. He did the same with Taco. Saw Taco play the other night.

He was starting and doing fine.

Jaylon would call this a clear eyed view.

To his credit they got the mismatch they wanted. When they finally scored, it was their #1 reciever on a linebacker. I'll take Amari against any linebacker in the NFL in that situation.

When I saw that play I knew we would have a bunch of threads like this. Jaylon has dropped off this year for sure but some of that is LVE being out or injured. But on that drive he had a PD against the TE twice so they came back with a WR. No Mike in the NFL wins that matchup the majority of snaps.

Lee was pretty active but seemed to tire as the game went on.

Do not know if he plays next year. We need an upgrade there.

Let him start his coaching career with the new HC.

Everyone player on the Cowboys has been exposed.

Wouldn't it be great if the Cowboys coaches actually tried to disguise their liabilities, personnel wise, both of offense and defense? At the same time, wouldn't it also be great if they actually schemed against the other team's personnel weaknesses?

But a lot of that is based on Woods occupying two guys at the 1T and LVE covering a ton of ground behind him. When both of those guys are out it has a domino effect.

He had 9 missed tackles before the Chicago game, it's probably 12-14 now. LVE had 12 before the injury.

He sucks this year.

It was a feel good story for a short period, but he just rubs you the wrong way. Protecting his brand and his image. Plus that swiping celebration is ridiculous. I thought the pick was a mistake and he’s not helping his case. Can’t shed a block and just looks terrible.
