Great game against the Skins, decent game against the Fins, didn't do anything against the Saints (nobody did), then inactive for the next 10 weeks.

I don't see him on the injury report any longer. Is this just more stubbornness from the staff? Tavon has 2 catches on 10 targets the last 8 weeks.

It’s almost impossible to know since we haven’t seen him. But I don’t trust the coaching staff to actually play the better players. They are known for starting guys “they trust” over ones who can help the team. Just like with Witten.

Surprise surprise. The coaching staff doesn't know how to use our personnel.
Same could be said about Jarwin, Austin, Pollard, Olawale.. to name a few.

It's pretty sad honestly. All of these players have the skill set to contribute. Much more then they have this year that's for sure.

They gave his gameday spot to Ventell Bryant so that he can look lost on special teams and stick like the rest of them.

I have no idea why Tavon Austin is still on the team. He is terrible as a punt returner and can only be used as a gimmick person on offense. I would have been done with him last year. I would have preferred Smith being active.

I assume it is special teams related also...sort of scary we may have worse special team players on the roster that are not playing.

I haven't heard anything, but I really think they are keeping Smith under wraps until 2020 comes around and Cobb/Austin are gone. He did play some slot at Ohio State.

This strongly supports the theory that the FO is putting up the overall team (coaches pick the main names I guess). So the coaches have plans and would use the main names they wanted, but since they did not have input or even idea who are the rest of the roster, they do not know how to use them unless they are forced it through injury/suspension ...

I am sure many of the fans have the same question about this guy. When he does something like that, why is he not featured more? especially, when Gallup was injured !!!!

Very sad

He's a good, deep wideout that has been inactive because our coaching staff is filled with a bunch of idiots. What a surprise, another player we misuse! We have him for one more year. Maybe our new coaching staff next year will use him properly.
Thank goodness he has another year to get a fresh start with another staff.

They gave his gameday spot to Ventell Bryant so that he can look lost on special teams and stick like the rest of them.
It's comical that the very last STs unit is reserving spots for STs players (#10/#83)over a guy who can contribute at WR.

What do you mean under wraps? For what? He's under contract for next year.
Maybe should have used different terminology. "Bubbled Wrapped" so that he is fully healthy and lined up as a full time starter.

I've been curious about Smith too, but lets be fair - Cooper, Gallup and Cobb are the better players. They get far and away the bulk of the targets, and anyone else getting a target at WR is a rarity. Smith likely has been left out because the team feels it gets more special teams use out of Austin and Ventell Bryant.

He will ball out when Urban Meyer gets here ;)

which is odd. Smith was an elite gunner at Ohio state

Then why not drop Tavon. He and Dak have the worst chemistry. Let me guess he's playing for special teams purposes too? The worst special teams unit in the NFL....

You're right about that, Dak and Tavon have no chemistry whatsoever, and it seems that the few times Prescott does throw to him, he's being double covered. That's another failed experiment.

that’s true.

though it was clearly a coaching mistake when they didn’t have smith active against the jets. Knowing that Cooper and Gallup and Cobb were all
Banged up.
