He’s got a missing finger and a partially lacerated shoulder. He’s primed for an outstanding game against Wince. Is it worth the risk?
Yes, they can win the division but their chance of success in the playoffs seems extremely low.
With Dak not 100% healthy, their chance of success in the playoffs seems to be near zero.
Not be callous, but purely from a business standpoint, what do they have to lose?
His contract is up after this season so they could simply not resign him (includes franchise tag) if he were seriously injured.
There are only two regular season games left they would be on the hook for paying him.
If anything, this is the exact situation any team would love to have with a soon-to-be high-priced free agent (franchise tag not withstanding) going in to the last two games of the season.
That's an entirely different topic that has been discussed ad nauseam on CZ.How much of Dak's value is due to his market value and how much is due to the Cowboys history of drafting QBs since Aikman and since stumbling onto Romo then Dak?

Prosthetics have come a long wayHis arm is already amputated according my sources, what else could go wrong?
new league years start in march, I imagine thats when they technically expire..the teams and agents have to have time to start negotiations and adding tags etcJust curious, do player contracts expire at the end of regular season or does it extend for playoffs? A lot of people seem to think skipping bowl games is smart for jrs and srs. I wonder what would happen if a pro with an expiring contract did the same thing....
You guys are getting too caught up in the weeds. If the medical staff clears Dak, he’s going to play regardless. He’s a warrior and the team leader. The only risk is not playing him. That's an entirely different topic that has been discussed ad nauseam on CZ.
I am speaking purely from the business standpoint. There are many scenarios that could happen.
For example, Dak may want too much money or too many contract years after the season. It is also possible, depending on who they hire, that the next head coach may not want to bring back Dak.
At this point, there's no real risk for the Cowboys.
If anyone should be considering the risk factor it should be Dak. It would be hard to blame him if he didn't want to risk further injury given a more severe injury would heavily impact his off-season contract negotiations with the Cowboys or other teams.
xwalker -- i heard that he cannot further injure the part that is injured ..its only pain tolerance...unless you mean he could injure another part of his body?Is it worth the risk?

I don't get why you targeted me in your reply. The question posed by the OP was regarding whether it was smart for the Cowboys to play him, to which I responded. You guys are getting too caught up in the weeds. Didn’t target you, just the thread narrative.I don't get why you targeted me in your reply. The question posed by the OP was regarding whether it was smart for the Cowboys to play him, to which I responded.
I fully expect Dak to play and this to be a non-issue, unless he suffers another injury. That wasn't the question though.
I like the self-deprecating humor! His arm is already amputated according my sources, what else could go wrong?
