I'm actually seriously trying to comprehend why y'all want Jason gone so badly. I want him not to be the HC extremely bad, but if Jerry wants to stick him in the front office somewhere, I couldn't care less.

My theory: Some of us have probably worked for an organization where the former supervisor was still somehow connected to the organization... and their mere presence got in the way either because of inappropriate intrusion or because of divided loyalties among staff, or both.

It would be a circus to keep the former HC officed in The Star in any capacity.

OK, that makes sense.

I guess I'll be so frickin' glad to get Jason out of coaching, just don't care where else he goes.

I think they've offered him a front office job and have given him time to decide whether he wants to accept it or continue being a head coach elsewhere.

That's how I see it. There is probably an offer for some type of FO position. If he wants to try and find another gig, even though he is still under contract I don't see Jones stopping him. Unless he is released, teams would have to request permission to speak with him and I don't see Jones denying such a request.

This is reminding me of the Steinbrenner Yankees of the 1980s. Steinbrenner went to Lou Piniella, who was managing the team at the time, and told him that he wanted to bring back Billy Martin again as manager. He wanted to move Piniella to be the GM of the team. Piniella wasn't particularly interested in the change, and resisted it. Steinbrenner said to him,"Lou, this is for the best. Why be second guessed when you can become one of the second guessers?"

Jones could be taking a page from ol' George's playbook.

This is being incredibly mishandled.

IMO, Garrett was offered some type of job with the team and they are giving him the night to think about whether or not he wants to stay with the team in some capacity or go potentially coach somewhere else.

I personally do not think he will be a hot commodity like the Jones’s and Dilfer say he will.

Is there any doubt Jerry is offering him this job?

It's perfect.....Garrett can still hang around the team....yet he can still keep his anonymity....and fetch Jerry drinks.

This is Jerry figuring he couldnt be THIS dumb.

He loves compounding mistakes with bigger ones.

And clap.

(I'm not a Garrett detractor, but have to admit, that's a good one, floaty.)

Any chance this is to coordinate a Campo type press conference on the way out?

It has to be so they can arrange a graceful exit, right? Either that or they’re working on an extension and Jason’s people are putting together a counter offer tonight.

He's making Garrett head coach, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, and special teams coordinator.

JG is going to be offered a job in the mgmt team. So on Tuesday it will be announced he will no longer be the HC but will be on the team in some capacity is what I am getting.

To the theories circulating that Garrett might be offered a FO position.... I just see the fire in his eyes when he says he wants to coach, and it's hard to be persuaded that he will accept any other role than that in football for the foreseeable future.

But I still can't bring myself to think Jerry can bring himself to bring Garrett back as HC. I've never been a chronic Garrett moaner, but I was among the first to post here last January that Garrett would have to get to the NFC CG or else, and I've stood by that contention ever since.

Stating/repeating the obvious... no way to interpret this development that makes any sense.

If he retains Garrett, it will literally be the dumbest decision made in franchise history—like, Doug Cosbie over Joe Montana level dumb.
Is that a fact? they took doug when joe was still available? what round was it??
