If he brings him back, while I'll never root for any other team, I'm done emotionally with this team. Won't be all in. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. If he brings him back, Jerry clearly doesn't care about winning. What has Garrett showed us that he is DC franchise winner. Have our expectations sunk so low as a franchise that a division is ok. Garrett has shown nothing that warrants return nothing. I don't care how much a nice guy he is, or the players like him. Why the biggest game of their lives they didn't play their hearts out? His job has been on the line since Buffalo, or going into the season for that matter. I will be extremely pissed and not invested in this garbage again. Not ok with being the Bengals with Marvin Lewis. Winning division afteonce year and while and getting in the first round to lose every year. I'm tired.
If Jerry doesn't care about this franchise then why should we? I'll always love who this franchise was and all the great players I rooted for . That'll never change but life's too short to always be angry at a sports team.

I made that decision about a year ago. Wasn't angry/frustrated during games this year - enjoyed the highs while waiting for the inevitable lows.

Big picture is I have zero confidence in the Jones regime ever producing a 6th championship, so there are no hopes to get up. Still follow, still watch, just without expectations. Even today, NOTHING Jerry does (or doesn't) will surprise me.

And, of course, I don't spend money on the Cowboys. Why waste it?

I haven't spent a dime on the team in almost a decade. I actually quit watching the team after Jerry made the quote in my signature. I have not watched a single NFL game since then which was in November 2017. What is the point of watching when you know the team will never succeed with an unqualified coach? I come here regularly and a few other forums hoping to find news that he has cut ties with Garrett. Now it looks like he will retain him. If so I am completely done with this team. I have been a die hard fan going back five decades and I can no longer take it. I may try to see if I can support another team, possibly the Saints or the Texans, but I doubt I can. I may just be done with the NFL forever.

Why would anyone be against Jason moving up? Just because he's not a good HC doesn't mean at all that he wouldn't be good in the front office.
He’s a saboteur and a suck up, not helpful for a new coach. He’d be fine in the promotions department, isolated from anything football.

Same here. I follow closely but have no emotional attachment anymore. It is impossible to get fired up when you know how the story plays out.

It sucks. As I told my wife, "I want them to fire Garrett so I can go back to yelling at the TV."

This is being incredibly mishandled.

IMO, Garrett was offered some type of job with the team and they are giving him the night to think about whether or not he wants to stay with the team in some capacity or go potentially coach somewhere else.

I personally do not think he will be a hot commodity like the Jones’s and Dilfer say he will.

Yes, very odd. If you respect him that much, let him go explore other opportunities while he can.

New working theory for the second meeting...

- Significant number of core players went to the mat for Jerry to keep Red, citing among other things Jerry's top-down imposition on the coaching staff and making the case that he owns any missteps there

- Jerry, feeling guilty but still not totally persuaded either way, decided to invite Red to give it some thought overnight, and to come back to him today to make the case for staying and more saliently, what Red's plan would look like if he were to stay... or perhaps, it wasn't even Jerry-driven, but rather Jason making the case himself that he deserves the chance to prepare and make his case, and Jerry agreed

Again, if Jerry is hatching a plan to put Garrett in the front office, it's just another example of how Jerry simply really doesn't have a clue on how to build a football franchise.

He's creating an uncomfortable situation with any new HC who is going to see that Jerry's boy, Garrett, still has his ear.

Cut the cord, Jerry. Geezus.

Fwiw, I'm one of those persuaded that's not it.

Red's not even barely interested in leaving coaching, and so I don't even think Jerry's going down that road.

As said above, Red's probably getting one last chance to make the case for him to get another year, and Jerry's granting him the dignity of making that case.

Personally I think he is being allowed to say goodbye to every player personally and we will see a press conference tomorrow on a slow news day thanking Garrett for all hes done

Looking more and more like Garrett is sticking around, hope I'm wrong. If he does stick around, I'm done with this team.

JG becomes the GM. Makes JJ look like he is doing something. But we know JG will just be a puppet there to. Yes it’s stupid but sounds about right. What would that make a new HC think. Lol.
