There was a time you all wanted Romo out too

Some of the threads here are ridiculous.

-Replace Zeke with Pollard....Pollard fumbles on the most important drive of the season

-Give Cooper Rush the start over Prescott.....Rush and white are pretty much near awful in preseason

-Get rid of Cooper , he doesn't deserve to be paid and start Gallup........Gallup is open because of Cooper, and Cooper did cross 1K this year himself and from what it seems wasn't healthy the second half of the season

-Fire Marinelli and give Richard all playcalling duties.....got your wish and the defense regresses

I swear to god, some of you may criticize Jerry Jones about being a terrible manager, but from what i've seen, some of the ideas here are way worse.

First: Fan is short for....FANATIC. Every single fan base from every single type of game has FANATICS. And within that FANATIC base is a roller coast ride. This occurs as often as the sun rises and sets. Thinking with emotions is not a smart thing

Next, Romo was a QB with so many highs with his share of lows that threw fanatics onto this roller coaster. Danny White threw fanatics onto this wooden coaster in the 80s. Getting the Cowboys to 3 straight NFC title games and losing them. He never got the team into the Superbowl, but I still regard Danny White as a very good Dallas QB. I say the same with Romo and he never got the franchise even to a single NFC title game.

I dislike the fact that too much is given to QBs when a team wins and losses. You see all the time what a QB record is for whatever type scenario the media wants to throw out there. For example: Kirk Cousin is 0-10 vs teams with 12 wins. What is the record of the LG, safety, punter, etc.... QB gets these stats. Football is the ultimate team sport but the QB gets all the limelight.

Coaches make no plays, tackle no one, do nothing on the field but coach. I so much wanted Jason Garrett to be the Dallas coach for 30 years like Coach Landry. But when certain traits just keep showing itself, clock mgmt troubles, lack of halftime adjustments, defense continue lack of creating turnover(dead last AGAIN with INTs), poor tackling, etc... This is coaching. If an employee is not producing for any company, the employer will eventually lay the employee off. You see it often that companies fold for lack of producing revenue.

Like Romo, Garrett was given a looooooooooooong rope. Jerry loves each of these men and so much wanted success with them.
I applaud Jerry for his loyalty and for many fanatics, it ticks them off.

The Cowboys were once what the Patriots are, in the playoffs all the time and in Superbowls. It has been 2 decades PLUS that the Cowboys have even sniffed a NFC title game, yet alone a Superbowl. There is a generation of Dallas fans that has never seen the Cowboys as a good team. The frustrated fanatics, who have seen this franchise, like the Patriots, patience are growing thinner but as it grows, we are older and some realize that it is JUST A GAME. A sport to enjoy watching and break away from reality for a few hours. Those that live and die are the irrational ones.

The fact that it's been soooo long since we were consistently actual SB contenders is the main reason why we tend to view it as "just a game" today.

The only people that wanted Romo out are people that can’t see the game past the Quarterback position.

It’s probably the same group of people that want to pay Dak but refuse to acknowledge how dependent he is of the talent around him and doesn’t make the team better with his play.

I always thought Romo had the arm talent, pocket awareness, and field reading abilities to be a franchise QB BEFORE he even became a starter in 2006. I, and many others, loved what we were seeing with Romo during his preseason games. I was pissed when there were rumors that he was going to be cut so we could keep scrubs - luckily, he clung to a roster spot.

My criticisms of Romo came with his decision making from 2006-2008 and I thought he was a little too much like Favre in a bad way. 2009 changed that though, I thought he took the next step.

This is just not similar with Prescott for me. People look at this season and see a ton of yards and more TD passes - it's misleading. Prescott is still slow with his reads, lacks pocket awareness, and became more mistake prone through the air with this new aggressive offensive style. I'd much rather have Prescott just be the game manager type, this role simply isn't for him.

In my case, I disagree. As the cliche goes, wisdom is wasted on the youth. Cowboys winning surely makes you feel good but come Monday, you still have to get up and do the wash, rinse & repeat for the week. Dallas winning or losing doesn't pay any of my or our bills. Makes Mondays alittle better or worse, but still Jerry has not paid a single mortgage, electric, phone bill of any of us. That what I am referring too. When people (ie: fans) fall apart are the fanatics.

Romo early in his career was a choke artist. It literally wasn’t until his last few years that he got his game under control and by then he was made of glass.. the Romo era was very disappointing to say the least.

Wanted Romo out after the 2012 season ending loss in Landover. Just didn't feel they could win it all with him from that point in time.

Never wanted Garrett and he could possibly be what kept Romo from a Championship.

same. He did improve though but our one shot was blown in green bay

Never forget Paxton Lynch
And that's only part of it.
Go to the 2016 pre draft threads and there were some here actually wanting us to use the 4th overall pick on Lynch.
You read that right.
Not just trade up to the late 1st round, but use the 4th...overall...pick.
:lmao:

By the time Romo started to "get it" his body turned on him. I thought he turned the corner in 2014 and was ready for a massive season in 2015....hindsight being 20/20 maybe he should have been allowed to start against GB in the 2016 playoffs.
