If all this team needed was championship caliber coaching why wouldn’t we expect to make it this year?

I don’t disagree that he wants to win now, but he’s not an idiot that doesn’t understand winning the Super Bowl isn’t that simple. If he sees progress and a certain level of success he isn’t going to scrap it and start over after only 2 years.
So, a wild card win is enough this year?

Right. That’s why we’re having a coaching change.

Same rules apply. Question is ?? How long does Mike get.
He answered that. He just wasn’t using post season success as SB or bust.

Had McCarthy had this healthy of a roster in his tenure we would be playing next Sunday. He beat us with a one legged Rogers, and has always had teams with Goldie Lochs out, DB’s off the streets, and RB’s off the couch. But still won. Rogers is a beast no doubt, but it’s a team game.
Exactly!

Heck, at this point I'd be thrilled if we could just make it to the NFC Championship game.

Anything beyond that is a bonus at this point.

We had ultimatum this year to make Championship game . Why wouldn’t we next year?

Does Mike need a year to get comfortable in his new digs? Maybe it will take him awhile to get used to wearing blue?

THIS year? I didn’t say that, but yes, that would be enough for this year for McCarthy to keep his job. Jerry wouldn’t be happy with it, but he isn’t going to fire McCarthy after just one season unless some incredibly unlikely and colossal collapse occurred.

So the bar is lower this year for a greater HC than we had last year? Interesting...

Do you really not see the difference between a coach getting one year to build his success and a coach getting 9 years?

And do you really think Jerry will hire a new head coach every season until he wins the Super Bowl?

Because Garrett had 9 years, and McCarthy just got hired.
But there was an ultimatum this year. Everyone believes this team has enough talent just needs greater coaching.

Why wouldn’t we expect to reach our goals now?

There’s nothing to build here. This is a talented enough team that just needs greater coaching according to most.

How long do we need Rogers?

Mike Nolan goes before Big Mc. Nolan has a penchant for passing defense and turnovers but his run defense suffers. 2009 Denver is a good example. The first 6 games his defense gave up a league low of 66 points, yet Denver finished the year 8-8. Overall his defense finished 12. His pass defense was 3rd, but his run defense was 26th.

Give Nolan three; McCarthy is good for four. He doesn't like losing so I doubt he'd want to stay around if this team is dragging bottom. It means the team isn't buying what he's selling and he's wasting his breath.

You guys are nuts. He signed today and you’re already talking about his firing.
He was hired to take a team to a championship most think it should be playing for.

How long does he get. There has to be some expectations?

Aside from the fact Jerry denied early on last season that there was such an ultimatum, again, Garrett had a short leash because he was taking his 9th swing at the pitch. That’s 3 strikes you’re out, multiplied by 3. It’s really odd that you don’t see the difference between that and someone just stepping into the batters box.

Great . Mike already has some excuses built in.

Darn . I thought this hire meant we expected to win now.

I see a team most thought had enough talent to go to a championship . All we needed was a better coach.

So, what’s stopping us now. How much time does he need?

He will get three years minimum no matter the results. If he never reaches the divisional round, then that 4th season can go either way. Jerry will not eat 3 years of salary.

He gets at least the next few months before we will grow restless.
