Jerry is going to be 78 this season. This hire is all about him. If this was Stephen, I think it's Urban Meyer or Lincoln Riley.

Every decision that Jerry has made has been through the lens of his age. It's not just about the window this team has as far as talent, but it's Jerry's window. He has said so himself this year, when he was interviewed before the Thanksgiving day game.

For us fans, that means expect an owner that's all-in the next few years. My guess is that McCarthy is his guy until Jerry is 6-feet under, barring some unmitigated disaster (two 5-11 seasons, for example).

There was an ultimatum for this season. And most felt this team should be contending for a championship now.

Why would a coaching change move the Bar?

Are you that myopic that you can’t see that the only reason there was an ultimatum for this past season, is because of Garrett’s prior failures over the previous 9 seasons?

Let’s look at it this way.

If the cowboys won the super bowl in 2016. But nothing else changed. Every other season ended the same way. Do you think Jerry fires Garrett this off-season? I say no way in hell.

Again, it’s the totality of somebody’s performance.

Gailey 2 years
Campo 3 years
Bill 4 years
Wade 3 1/2 years
Garrett 9.5 years

The leashes have been pretty short. Even Barry was only 4 years and Jimmy 5.

But this situation is different IMO because Jerry thinks this team should be contending now. Not 3-5 years from now.

I see you left your boy off the list so I added him for you.;)

Your arguments are not logical or based on any actual precedent. For somebody that claims to live their life for the Boys, you seem to leave out key details. So let me help you out.

Gailey..........actually made the playoffs back to back but was fired for losing in first round......Jerry said it was one of his biggest mistakes.
Campo..........team was pretty much trash, barely able to win 5 games, no realistic chance to win but Jerry needed a stadium.
Bill...............enter Bill Parcells who Jerry admitted was hired solely to get a stadium. After 4 years he retired, he was never fired.
Wade..........won two division titles and a playoff game in just over three years but was fired after 1-7 start in 4th season, Garrett took over.
Garrett........despite having almost a decade on the job, he only managed to win 2 measly wildcard games and was fired for continued failure.

At no point with any head coach under Jerry Jones was there ever an ultimatum that they had to win the SB in their first 2 years or fired. So to expect one now with McCarthy is totally illogical and not based on any reasoned logic.

I dont think you are actually serious with this argument, I think you are just trying to stir stuff up because you are still mad Garrett got fired.

He signed a 5 year deal and unless this team flops he will have 5 years to get it done.

This is a Zeke Dak window hire

Zeke has 5 years on his contract

10 wins or better AND a playoff appearance the next two years buys him 3 more years.

I don’t agree. I think the ultimatum was more about this team and roster expectations. The fans might have parlayed the 9 year tenure as more ammo to fire him but I dont believe our ownership was lumping it in.

This is more about the expectations of this core talent and roster.

And if you believe Mike has 3-5 years to have more success than Garrett did with this team then we’ll just have to disagree.

Garrett got fired because he sucked. No point in defending your hero now. Garrett failed and proved you dead wrong. And the talent on this roster was at the point where it was so stacked, that Garretts failing for 10 years became all to obvious for even the forgiving Jerry to overlook.

We made a coaching change because we thought we should have been playing for a championship this year.

Why would Mike get 3 years?

and what exactly do you plan to do in two years if we don’t win a Super Bowl?

Are you going to just get a new coach every two years until we win one?

obviously nine years was ridiculous but two? A lot of things have to go right to win a championship. It’s not just head coach = Super Bowl.

our roster is pretty good but there are other rosters that are better.

I know you want a Super Bowl but flushing a coaching staff every two years is not going to make that happen

Haven't you been saying like forever that we are a "talent dependent" franchise and coaching didnt matter with this toxic environment?

Or was that just lip service to defend your boy who was such an epic failure?

He really has no clue what he is saying. Consistently backing himself into corners he has to lie his way out of.

He backed the Garrett horror show for 10 years with glee and defended Garrett at every turn.

But with McCarthy, he is already talking about him getting fired after two years. LOL

What we are witnessing is the biased frustration of a wrong way Garrett lover taking it out on the his replacement.

Which by the way...…………….was very very predictable.

Garrett couldn't win more than 3 playoff games in 10 years. But McCarthy has to win a SB in 2 years?

The ramblings a Diehard Garrett lover that now has the blues. LOL

He’s on the clock . Lol

SB or Bust

Unlike you, most of us value coaching. McCarthy will get the same scrutiny on here that the horrid Garrett did.

No one will be dumb enough to support the horrid Garrett like you did for 10 years with similarly laughable results.

He was hired to take a team to a championship most think it should be playing for.

How long does he get. There has to be some expectations?
Every coach is hired to take the team to the Super Bowl. I just don't get the the need to talk about how long to give him before he's fired.

That’s how I see it. Jerry’s leash will be very short from here on our with championship Appearances.

I have no problem with Garretts release. He didn’t meet expectations.

I believe this was a hire to win now. This isn’t like with Bill where we needed a rebuild.

Of course not but this season mandate wasn’t just about the totality. Jerry and most who aligned with his rhetoric believed this team had enough talent to take the next step this year.

So, why shouldn’t Mike be expected to take this team to a championship appearance as well?
