We made a coaching change because we thought we should have been playing for a championship this year.

Why would Mike get 3 years?

New offense, new defense and the need to implement the culture you want to succeed where others have failed.

Its a change of philosophy in the Type of players , coaches want. Garrett's idea of the right kind of guy should surely differ from McCarthys. Lets see if he can put his stamp on the draft rather than what Garrett and the FO's decided in the past
I thought we had enough talent to win now?

Actually you're right. Let's give him until the end of 2020 to reach an NFC CC game. And no, not the 2020 season, the 2020 calendar year
Did we hire a proven Super Bowl HC to take a talented roster touted by Jerry , many fans , analysts and media enough to win currently or to win 3-5 years down the road?

Haha, the Garrett Fan Club is showing their hypocrisy. Garrett took over a team that made the playoffs and won a playoff game the year before -- and was expected to make the Super Bowl -- but they loved to claim that he took over a wreck that needed years to rebuild.

Now McCarthy takes over a team that lost 8 of its last 13 but they want to claim this team should win this year or else.

Pick one or the other, but at least be consistent.

There’s a sharp difference.

Garrett took over a 1-7 team that had been by most critics analysis spiraling down since 2008. Heading into 2010 there were many concerns with an aging and injury riddled OL that had shown its vulnerability in Vikings blowout in playoffs in what wasn’t touted as an upward swing even though had won its first playoff game since 90’s team.

The fact that Wades tenure had depleted the talent he inherited from Parcells with 4 poor drafts in comparison the team looked evermore dependent on Romo. The fact in 2010 was the only season we had a losing record with Romo healthy (1-5) is an indicator the concerns were valid .

This season coming off a season where we’d come close to making a championship appearance was more of an upward trend with a roster most touted along with Jerry , Stephen , media, and fans as a team that should be taking the next step deeper in playoffs which created the mandate or expectation to at least make the championship game.

And as a result of these expectations not fulfilling brought about a coaching change as most felt this roster of talent was under achieving needing greater coaching .

That’s why the expectations are so much higher if you follow the rhetoric our ownership , media and fans have all aligned with that this team is talented enough to contend now. Not 3-5 years needing a rebuild or retooling which I’ve heard or read nothing about.

And hypocrisy would be mandating an expectation to make at least a championship appearance with Garrett with this highly touted talented roster and not the same expectation with a more proven Super Bowl caliber HC.

All teams have talent, some more than others obviously, but we should have enough talent to be competitive and should have easily won the lowly NFC East.
Unless fans have been living under a rock they’d of known or heard from Jerry, Stephen , most critics, analysts and media that this roster was not only talented enough to win the division but make a deeper push in the playoffs.

And why the disappointments of not reaching the expectations demanded a coaching change.

We have brought in a proven Super Bowl HC to take this highly touted talent further than the highly criticized previous HC could. That means we have high expectations now. Not 3-5 years.

The expectation this year was to make at least the championship game.

I’m not sure why we’d be lowering the Bar now with a more proven Super Bowl HC?
Who's expectations? They haven't won a divisional playoff game in over 20 years.

This team is going to have to get a better D before the expectations change from what they've always been for me. Watch the final 4 this weekend and tell me the Cowboys had as good a D as any of them. And I do not see MIN, SF or SEA getting worse on D next year. I do not know if the Cowboys will improve, they regressed this year.

Downward spiral since 2008? What? The 2009 team went 11-5 and won its first playoff game in forever. There was a ton of talk about the 2010 team being the first to play in a Super Bowl in its own home stadium.

Jerry and Stephens expectations . Which are the only ones that matter. They placed the mandate with their touting of how talented this roster was. And many fans , critics, analysts and media aligned with this which created the ultimatum for the season.

It didn’t matter what you, I or many other fans warned was too high a bar with many concerns we had.

This is the atmosphere and toxic environment Jerry creates promoting his product. And I’m going to continue holding his feet to the fire especially with this hire. Because our team and coaching decisions are based off their views not ours.

That was media hype.

And that hype was over at 1-5. Lol

This team there was still hope at 7-7 we could win division , get hot and make some noise in playoffs.

That 2010 team was supposed to be great and then Garrett took over and we're supposed to believe those 8-8 seasons was him rebuilding that team.
