Some were saying the Clowney hit on Wentz was dirty

I didn't see the full game, but I did see the play. It was helmet to helmet. Eagles fans are upset. That's no surprise. They've certainly never encouraged their team to play dirty. I'm sobbing for them. I'm sure glad Eagles fans are super virtuous and against dirty play.

It was borderline. He could have pulled up and avoided hitting him but it was also a legal hit. His helmet didn't hit Wentz's helmet until after it hit his back.

The contact was deemed "incidental."

Or like faking an injury so they can get a timeout.

The helmet to helmet was incidental. Clowney never led with his helmet, their helmets just hit each other after the initial tackle. I do however think the tackle wasn't necessary as Wentz was falling to the ground. All they had to do was touch him down.

Yeah, but it HAS to be a dirty play. Eagles fans said it was and they would never, ever mislead us. Plus, they're a fountain of virtue against dirty play, aren't they?

If it was a college game and I was officiating, I would have called him for targeting and sent him to the showers. Did I mention I hate the Eagles?

You're right, that's all he had to do. But he didn't. Any qb runs the risk of getting injured when they take off out of the pocket. Also, what better way to encourage a qb to stay on the pocket than giving him a shot?

I didn’t see helmet to helmet. I saw blow to the back, rolling to back of helmet where main contact was with the ground.

NFL said Wentz was a runner at that point and did not give himself up, so he gets no special protection.

@C42 remember how you said Wentz had NO CHOICE in the matter?

https://www.inquirer.com/eagles/phi...lowney-nfc-playoffs-concussions-20200107.html

Here was Wentz, as vital to his team’s fortunes as any quarterback in the NFL, a still-emerging star, being honest enough to remove himself from a playoff game because of a head injury.

Understand: No one forced Wentz to leave the game. No one. In a statement released Monday, Dr. Allen Sills, the NFL’s chief medical officer, acknowledged that, according to “the independent certified athletic trainer spotters and unaffiliated neurotrauma consultants monitoring the game,” neither Wentz nor Clowney “seemed to exhibit behavior or symptoms suggestive of concussion” after Clowney speared Wentz in the back of the head.

————————————

Remember when I told you he wasn’t cut from the same cloth as REAL tough-guy QBs?

Remember your BS about how the medical staff pulled him from the game and Wentz had ZERO say in it?

Remember your BS about Wentz’s symptoms?

Nice deflection, Mr. I’m Not Man Enough to Admit I Was Wrong!

Yes, he is soft. I’ve NEVER heard of a starting QB removing HIMSELF from a playoff game before, have you?

For his long-term health, yes, it was the right decision. But don’t act like this guy is cut from the same cloth as QBs who put it all on the line for their teams.

Say, remember when you said Wentz had no idea where he was and couldn’t remember anything?

Yeah, that was a lie.

Yeah, that was another lie.

Damn i did not know that, neither league nor Philadelphia staff required him to stay out of the game, his decision only?

Once again, I'm not reading all that. But the first line is ironic coming from you.

I'm assuming the rest just says, "It's just a brain injury! SOFT!"

Apparently the spotters didn't spot any symptoms until Wentz told an official or McCown he was feeling woozy. Bad look for the league.

Which directly contradicts the lies you tried selling us a couple days ago.

DURRRR THEY PULLED HIM AND HE HAD NO CHOICE!!!!!
:lmao2:

So the Eagles staffer DID lie to Stephen A., just like I told you.

You’re welcome!

Typical Wentz. No surprise whatsoever.

Last year, Pederson said his back was feeling better then it had all year.

A few days later, Wentz was shut down for the season.
