Some were saying the Clowney hit on Wentz was dirty

I didn't see the full game, but I did see the play. It was helmet to helmet. Eagles fans are upset. That's no surprise. They've certainly never encouraged their team to play dirty. I'm sobbing for them. I'm sure glad Eagles fans are super virtuous and against dirty play.

I didn’t see helmet to helmet. I saw blow to the back, rolling to back of helmet where main contact was with the ground.

NFL said Wentz was a runner at that point and did not give himself up, so he gets no special protection.

There are helmet to helmet his on a lot of plays, the salient point is did the player that did the hitting lower his head so that he leads with the crown (top) of his helmet. Clowney very obviously lowered his head. Dirty play? To me, yes. Of course that kind of play wasn't uncommon years ago, but that was when a concussion was considered just "getting your bell rung", and not a big deal. We know better now.

Football is a violent, physical game, but trying to win games by knocking out one of the other team's important player, when it doesn't otherwise do anything like stopping a touchdown or first down run, means to me that you know your team isn't able to beat the other team skill-wise, so if you win the game it just puts your team into the next round when it shouldn't have been there. Sort of like "backing into" the playoffs because the team or teams ahead of you lose, usually it results in a big beatdown when you do get there, because you didn't earn it by winning.

Of course some have the attitude that however you get in is fine, and I'm cool with that viewpoint. Just not the way I look at it.

I have no love loss for the Eagles, they have always been a dirty team with many stupid and arrogant fans, but if there aren't rules against things like the Clowney hit, NFL games will end up like the teams in movie Rollerball, the game becomes secondary to injuring players. You know that if Clowney had hit Dak or Romo like that we'd be all over him for a dirty hit, doesn't change the play because it wasn't against one of our own...

Nah, not just 8 plays.

Last year Wentz went 5-6. His team was lifeless and it looked like their season was over.

Then he wussed out with his “back injury” and Nick Foles got you into the playoffs by finishing the season 3-0 and winning a playoff game.

I know that was traumatic for you.
:lmao2:

Wentz has been anonymously trashed by his teammates several teams in the past few years too.

So Wentz is better than Dak at getting injured and being a poor leader.
Soooo what does that have to do with saying McCown outplayed him against Seattle?

Again, you based that on 8 snaps lmao. I would be more worried if someone like you agreed Wentz is better cause then I'd feel I would have the wrong take. :D

I’m glad you’ve come to terms with Nick Foles thoroughly outplaying Mr. Softie.

Yes, McCown outplayed Wentz. Wentz was awful in his 8 snaps, and it was only 8 snaps because Wentz wasn’t courageous enough to play through the cobwebs.

Not tough enough.

Wentz’s legacy through 4 years: injuries, poor leadership and being outplayed by Foles.

I saw the game and the play. It was slightly late but also looked like Clowney was leaning and going down anyways so he just kinda followed through with the hit. To me this was a good no call because Wentz had left the pocket and become a runner and when you do that you lose the protection that a QB would normally get in the pocket. Ive seen many hits like this on RBs where they are going down and a DE lands on them. Wentz really needs to learn how to slide feet first and then he gets the protection rule.

8 snaps.

1-4. 3 yards. And a fumble.

That’s his playoff career through 4 NFL seasons.
:lmao2:
Let’s not forget how Dak let that guy playing with 3 starters on offense into the playoffs. Was Dak also playing with the practice squad?

Dak doesn’t play defense.

He plays offense... and he had a LOT more than 3 playoff pass yards by the end of his rookie year.

Wentz has 3 playoff pass yards through year 4.

Scrub.
