He knows the Jones family will cave. That's why he turned it down. Stephen should have already slapped the tag on him and stopped the pretend negotiations.
A team can designate a player to receive a franchise tag, and depending on which form of the tag is used, the player will be all but sure to remain with the team for the next year. During the window where franchise tags can be applied—which opens on Monday, February 17 and closes Monday, March 3

I am wondering what makes those 4 people experts? Two of them I have never heard of, are they financial planners?

Proof, there are too many channels.
Really? I'll admit that Ohrnberger isn't exactly a household name, but ALL of the others are. If you do not know who there are, then you are most likely:
a. Very young
b. new to football
c. not really a fan of the game.

It seems as if today's media devotes more time to an athlete's pay rather than his play. So now Dak is considered to be a genius by putting more stress on the salary-cap than he does on opposing defenses.
Yay.
I was thinking the same thing as well.

When it's all said and done I have a feeling that it's going to make what SF gave up for Jimmy G look like an absolute bargain.

Salary is essentially ego driven. Dak is probably not a top 5 QB and probably should not be paid like one. He should sign for the tag amount and have a couple of escalators in it etc for winning the SB, ETC.

At some point these QBs make so much money the team is hard pressed to field a team around them. That’s why I wouldn’t have paid Tank. You could probably pay Byron half of what we paid Tank and draft Tank’s replacement.

It would be a dropoff from Tank but there is going to be a dropoff from a top 5 player on your team and a rookie unless you have a really bad team.

Are they experts? Are they meant to be viewed as experts?

He could still tell them he intends to use the tag. As of now Stephen says he will get a deal done. He gives them all the leverage. They have no reason not to ask for 40+
