I think it's too much on the offensive side to call this team a "Rebuild ".
unless it's a decision with future of Cooper, and seeing what plan is at TE, the personnel is gonna be pretty much the same.
It may take some time in the early going to get adjusted to new McCarthy offensive system
.
But if there's any rebuilding it's gonna be on Defense. Where we really need impact at DL and secondary .. and what's going to occur with OLB role opposite Dlaw (Quinn?)

Here's a look at the current roster is like and question of where we may need the most help in filling missing voids.

OFFENSE
QB – Prescott
RB – Elliott
RB – Pollard
FB ?
TE ? (jarwin?)
WR – Cooper ??
WR - Gallup
WR - Cobb ?

LT – Smith
LG – Williams
C- Fredrick
RG – Martin
RT – Collins

Special Teams:
K – Forbath
P – Jones ?
LS LP

DEFENSE:
RE – Crawford ?
NT - ? (woods ?)
LE - ? (Hill ?)

OLB - ? (Quinn ?)
MLB – Jaylon
MLB – LVE
OLB – Dlaw

LCB – Awuzie
RCB - ? (jones?)
FS - Xavier W.
SS - ?

And frankly, I just dunno how much Stephen Jones is gonna exploit the FA market.

We really need at least one big FA splash to get the upgrade personnel started. and in past Stephen just didn't believe in spending big $$ on even the more heralded star vet FAs.
(just imagine if we had made a signing bid for unrestricted CB Stephen Gilmore, instead of the Pats)

Could the McCarthy new era change this ? We'll have to see,..

Crawford is done. Jones stays. Cooper probably stays, too, but not sure. Expect a lot of former Packer players because that seems to be a McCarthy thing.

If they run a 3-4, we're toast.

Not if Wil McClay/Stephen Jones successfully compile talent needed at 3-4 personnel through FA, draft, trades ...and Mike Nolan & co. coaches it out well

I believe Cobb stays because he and McCarthy have a great connection, and can still perform at an above average level.

Pretty sure MM took note of that.

It would not surprise me to see a new punter in Dallas next year. Its long overdue. Jones has never been very good. He has always had a knack of shanking one for 30 yards when they needed to flip field position.

I hope they have a new FB, one who is big and strong and can block.

I'd like to see Jarwin and Schultz actually worked into the game planning a little more but both need to learn to block. I think we will see some changes at WR even if they manage to re-sign Cooper. But I bet McCarthy is not going to be in favor of signing Cooper for a boatload of money. I bet MM thinks he can find good receivers in the draft or through FA.

I expect 2 new DTs to be starting for Dallas in 2020 and a new Safety. The defense will be the biggest change in personnel.

MM has always liked having a traditional FB. Not sure if Nolan will make the 3-4 switch right away, we might see a lot of 4-2-5 alignments with the RE standing up as a pass rusher. Would not surprise me if we see Woods and a true NT in the middle in the base.

I think M Collins and M Bennett would be decent DEs in a 3-4 with a big fatty in the middle.

I dunno, I think Jones has been really solid before this past year. But last year was his career low in average and net average, and two years ago he landed almost twice as many punts inside the 20 as last year. Unless there's some reason to think that he's likely to return to form it's time to find a new guy.

Only if randall Cobb doesn't receive a Cole Beasley like offer from another NFL team.

don't always agree with you but here if i could like this multiple times I would. This defense already has enough holes and issue to expect them to have the ability to change yep we be screwed we got 4-3 personnel.

Too early to even speculate.......plus Forbath has been cut
What the heck? Not even keeping him for camp?
When was he cut? He's still on the roster according to the Cowboys website.

I don't actually think he was cut, I think it'ss just that he was on a contract through the end of the season, and now they have to negotiate another contract if they want to keep him.

We'll have maybe a few new faces on offense, maybe 1 or 2 new starters. I don't see much needed on that side of the ball.

Defense is a mystery. There's a good chance it will look much different in 2020. There will most likely be several new faces, along with a handful of new starters. Free agency will tell us if we plan to stay in a 43, transition to a 34 or run some kind of hybrid.

Special teams will be overhauled. Lots of new faces along with a new P and K. We might have a new LS if LP decides it's time to hang it up.

Lots of options & a long time before any of it becomes reality.

The only relatively strong feeling I have is that McGovern will earn a starting job (assuming health). (yes, i mean feeling. as in, i have nothing to back it up)

My biggest question is "Do we need a FB?". Unless we are going to use more than we have these last couple years, seems like we could use the roster spot elsewhere.
