Seems to make a lots of sense to me
Add in new stuff now and build off what worked
We know we stopped ourselves many of the times last year
Get the basics of his system down this camp, work in a bit more as the season goes on
Many teams struggle initially when they change systems and this approach could be a way to prevent that learning curve
Yeah and I wonder is this a year they get creative and try and trade down and get more picks to fix that defense? There really shouldn’t be any offensive picks unless it’s a steal.

After hearing MM's comments during this week; not changing the verbage of the calls, allowing Kellen Moore is continue calling the plays, in my opinion, the offense most likely will stay intact. There will no be a major overhaul at all, more of tweaking the unit.

I fully expect all the offensive fa's to return: Dak, Copper, Cobb, Jarwin. We are all not sure about Witten at this time, but many of us believe he is more of a progress stopper at this point. Perhaps the team adds a veteran TE if he departs, might use a draft pick to help the depth at the position.

MM has used a traditional FB in the past, that's a position to keep our eye on. I would like to see the team add a big, possession/red zone type of receiver, who knows if they want such a player for the offense.

Point is the offense personnel isn't changing, at least for next season. They may look to overhaul the other two units, but it's not happening here!
You may be right. But I don’t necessarily think standing pat with personnel is a good strategy in today’s NFL. Churning and refining the roster is done every year by the teams that are consistently good- it’s always good to have a critical eye on how we can get better at each position. I’m not saying get rid of everybody- just suggesting that we look at ways to get better across the board.

I believe one reason we have had trouble breaking through in the playoffs is the habit of sticking with players too long or having rose colored glasses about the value and production of a player. Hopefully Coach Mac will bring a critical eye to the roster so every player is reviewed for performance and value.

If there is a QB there it becomes a real option
If kinlaw is there I pick him though

They fired Colombo.

Either KMoore didnt like Colombo, or MM wanted his old buddy to have the job.

OL was elite.

The only one I am not all in on is Cooper. His inconsistency, particularly on the road where half the games are played, is not just with the Cowboys. That's one of the reasons OAK was willing to part with him. And I played a lot of fantasy back then and I can tell you he was hit or miss. For 18-20M a season, I am not sold on him. He put up some nice numbers in 2019 but not 18-20M numbers.

The options are FA or pick one in the first two rounds and let Gallup and the rook fight it out for WR1. The problem is they gave up a 1st for him for what amounts to 1.5 seasons. BTW, of the top 64 rated draft prospects 10 are WR's and 9 CB's.

If it's a choice, because of the cap, between Cooper and Jones, I'd keep Jones. He is by far the best DB they have and would be one les piece they have to replace and they have about half the pieces needing replacing. However, Nolan is a turnover coach and Jones is not a turnover DB.

And there is that tricky little LB issue. Is that the best they're going to get out of Smith, is LVE's neck issue worse than they've disclosed and how much longer can they fly with Lee. What looked like the strength of the D going into the season turned out to be the weakness.

The talent is there on offense.

TE is a need, a lot here really overrate Jarwin. If we lose a WR or two, then that becomes a need.

We need an infusion of talent on Defense. Two DT's, one DE, one CB, and one S at least. Nolan will absolutely help but have to give him talent and not a bunch of UDFA's and 6th round picks and expect him to work miracles.

Jarwin is a nice #2 TE in the 1-2. He's not the guy to be the #1 TE and he doesn't block well enough.

Agreed. Jarwin does his best work in 12 personnel when he's the 5th receiving option on the field and draws a winnable match-up. He's a tough match up for slow linebackers or small DB's

Option #1 Cooper
Option #2 Gallup
Option #3 Witten
Option #4 Zeke
Option #5 Jarwin

Really option #6 if McCarthy pushes Dak to use his legs more next year.

what makes you think Nolan will help?

I gotta see more out of Nolan.

His last stint as DC in ATL was a freaking train wreck.

I believe this off-season will be more about starting to rebuild the other two units, Defense & Special Teams.

Exactly. This team’s Achilles been the last three years, other than game day coaching, has been stopping the run. These tiny defensive tackles and speedy linebackers were just getting gashed.

You’d think they would have learned their lesson after the Rams’ playoff loss. Nope. Instead they doubled down with Trysten Hill.

I expect the Cowboys to draft heavy on defense this year, starting with that big 310lb DT from South Carolina.

I think youre right for the most part, except Witten retires and we pick up another TE, possibly in FA.

I dont expect Owaliaeiahsia the fullback to be back.

There could be a huge turnover on the roster this Spring.

A lot of UFAs are going to be leaving.

That big possession type WR could be Noah Brown, if he stays healthy.
I also would like to see them use Devin Smith, as the lame ex coaching staff refused to do.

Both players know how to get open. Smith with the speed, Brown with the size.

I agree, I think the offense stays pretty much the same personnel.
Olawale is a club option to keep or not, So we will see what MM decides in there.
Noah brown sucks

Yes, but not on offense. We lose Witten, FB, and maybe Cobb. Everyone else on offense is buried down the depth chart.
