So, a guy angrily alleging that people "hate" Dak for reasons that have "nothing to do with Dak", pridefully declares that his disdain for Romo has nothing to do with Romo

I see we've come full circle back to the classic "he started it" defense
Yes, and I can admit it. The real question is, why can’t you? It’s already blatantly obvious and you’ve already admitted it in a round about way. Yet, you’re still trying to beat around the bush.

Jameis Winston threw for over 5,000 yards on a significantly worse team. But all I know is that we're supposed to think jameis Winston stinks

I'm just waiting for one of Dak's minions to tell me how I'm allowed to feel here. I desperately want to be part of the in crowd.....
They tend to shy away from the Winston comparison post.

Previous years people said Dak could never throw for 300+ yards per game. Back then everyone thought the positives for Dak were that he won games and had the qualitative characteristics to be succesful, but could never put up big stats. Now this year he puts up big numbers, but has his worst W/L record and all of a sudden he can't win games. We are always moving the goal post with this guy it's kind of crazy.

Jerry is right about Dak. The whole administration agrees about Dak. The previous coaching staff agreed on Dak, and so does this new one. So does Bill Belichick and most other NFL coaches. You little groupies are the ones who are wrong and too stubborn to admit it.
Jerry and Garrett endorse Dak wow that in its self says all anyone needs to know, namely avoid him like the plague .No facts on the rest of these NFL coaches just your little fantasy as for Belichick what do you think he's going to say Dak sucks come on already stop just stop with this foolishness. As for groupies ( you are actually the groupie get with it: )The term groupie is a slang word in reference to a fan of a particular celebrity, (QB love in your case) who follows or has a abnormal love or unhealthy infatuation of this person, that's you surely not me. You do know I do not hate Dak, my only crime in your eyes is that I believe him to be average and should be compensated as such if signed to a new contract, that in your eyes makes me a hater and troll and that is truly sad that is your homer view. You enjoy average and buy Jerry's snake oil yet again and believe old McCarthy is going to fix Dak with magic dust, I hate to break the news to you Dak isn't any Rodgers or Farve talent but you are the guy that posts Troy was just a JAG, not much can help a view like that. I bet Dak is enjoying the games at home just like you.

Yes, and I can admit it. The real question is, why can’t you? .

Because it simply isn't true.

You desperately want to believe that so many people are "anti Dak" because of some allegiance to Romo, years after he retired. That gives you a reason to stir some imaginary pot that isn't even on the stove bro.

I desperately want the Cowboys to win more Super Bowls. If I thought Dak could get us there I'd be on board. After 4 years I've seen more evidence that indicates he's not the guy, than evidence that he is. That sentiment is only strengthened if he gets a contract that devours as much of the cap as he is asking.

That's where it begins and ends for me. It's that simple. Nothing more and nothing less.

Despite our sharp debates I actually enjoy you and the back and forth. you just need to wrap your mind around the fact that you don't know quite as much as you think you do about other people's thought processes. Once you get a grasp on that you'll be just fine

Honest question - - it appears that Brady's days in New England are done. Dak is about to be a free agent. based on what you're saying is it reasonable to expect that the Patriots will take a run at Prescott in some capacity?

I know Dallas hold some cards with possibility of the franchise tag and so forth what the point I am making is as of now he is not signed to a new contract. How come team after team are not making overtures if he's such a desirable commodity?

Yeah, it’s not true in all cases but it is true in THIS case. If it isn’t true then please explain why you admittedly don’t like Dak, didn’t want him as the QB, and have felt that way since day 1. Please, make a logical excuse for that all while being a diehard Romo fan.

And if you choose to want to go down the “only critiquing the QB position” path then why does it bother you when Romo is critiqued using your same level of scrutiny?

Which will ultimately lead to only one other valid reason for why you don’t like Dak which can’t be discussed here and I don’t believe for a second that is the reason why you haven’t liked Dak.

So, why don’t you like Dak?

or let me even rephrase,.. why are you so harsh on Dak?

What did Troy do his first 2 and last 4 years? Come on, Einstein, tell us all. What happened to his "you either have accuracy or you don't" mantra as a professional QB? I'm waiting...

As for Dak, he is our franchise QB, and I support him because of his abilities. What I don't support is his contract price demands, but he should not be paid any less than Goff or Wince since Dak has put up much better passing numbers than them.

As for the groupie term, well, just like there are pro-Dak groupies, there are alsoanti-Dak groupies. Someone obviously failed learning and understanding the English language in high school.

We're at an impasse.

I do sincerely appreciate you not calling me a bigot. I appreciate that. I would think that my lusting after Mahomes would take care of that accusation but unfortunately it hasn't. LOL

As for everything else I can't and won't cop to a charge that isn't true.

Romo's gone. No secret I was a huge fan but he's gone and he ain't coming back. I don't want to talk about him anymore. It has nothing to do with the current challenges the Cowboys face.

I'm convinced Dak isn't the guy. For me it's no more complicated than that. You seemed to echo this sentiment earlier calling him an average QB who isn't worth what he's asking.

I hope if Jerry signs him to a mega deal, that were both proven wrong.

Other than that we're at an impasse. I hope you have a good week Heath. I genuinely mean that. Send some of that Florida warmth and sunshine my way:grin:

I hope so too. I would send some Florida sunshine, but I haven’t lived in the panhandle since the late 80s. I will send some Texas sunshine up to Michigan though.

Here me out before clicking reply and calling me "delusional" or "stupid" or any of the other things said to everyone trying to be positive on here.

There have only been 12 different 5000 yard passing seasons, a mark Dak barely missed. He did however put up the 21st highest yard total in league history and only gets hate for it.

He gets a lot of hate around here for "garbage time" stats. I disagree with this notion.

Dak got a lot of garbage time stats, yes. I contend that this is true for every QB, even those 5k seasons. You cant tell me that every one of Manning's record 5477 yards was meaningful. Every year, every QB has garbage time stats and good stats in losing games. It's always true.

But no one discredits Bree's multiple 5k yard campaigns, even though much of it came in the form of blow outs in garbage time, for example.

Basically, this board wants to give no credit to Dak for his stats and I think that's dumb. Garbage time or not, he earned those yards, and thats why he has them. People are just angry that his stats happened in an 8-8 season, as though Dak is to blame for a useless special teams and an underachieving defense. If we had won 10 games, suddenly everyone's perception would be more kind.

Thoughts?
bet you blasted a guy named Romo when we lost to the Broncos and we put up 51 pts.

Dak is not a free agent "yet". He's still under contract. I guarantee Jerry will tag Dak before free agency begins just to keep Dak and give the Cowboys time to finish negotiating a new longterm contract.

Feb. 25:
First day for clubs to designate Franchise or Transition Players.

MARCH

March 10

Prior to 4:00 p.m., New York time, deadline for clubs to designate Franchise or Transition Players.

March 16-18

Clubs are permitted to contact, and enter into contract negotiations with, the certified agents of players who will become Unrestricted Free Agents upon the expiration of their 2019 player contracts at 4:00 p.m., New York time, on March 18.
https://operations.nfl.com/football-ops/league-governance/2019-20-important-nfl-dates/

There is no way Jerry would allow Dak to hit free agency. If he tags Dak, I would not doubt several teams, including the Patriots, would offer 1st round picks to try to pick Dak up, but Jerry has the right of first refusal by matching yearly salary franchise tag value.

Nah Romo is my favorite player of all time, started watching NFL the year he became a Cowboy.

It's ok to like both.

I've defended that Denver performance for years so dont come at me about Romo vs. Manning.
