Lol. The Joneses wanted to get Dak signed.

It's not Madden where you can sign players whenever you want. Daks side(agent) has a say in it too. Unless of course you guys wanted Joneses to cave to daks wants last year lol.

The dude even admitted he wanted his football play to do the talking for his next deal and make the Superbowl etc.
He was betting on himself, while the two sides were trying to get a deal both sides could sign off on

I don’t get Cowboys fans wanting Dak to be highest paid player, it May be beneficial for Dak but it sure will not be beneficial for the Cowboys in building a team!

I get your point.

But honestly a few mill here isn’t going to kill the cap. The cap continues to rise every year. That 38 will be equivalent to around 30 in two years.

With that being said, paying Dak 38 is ridiculous

Stephen didn't say it in this interview but did in a previous one that what caused that break down in negotiations at the beginning of the season wasn't the money but the length of the contract. The offer was 34 mil a year for 5 years and Prescott wanted just 3 years and hasn't budged from that. 3 years will coincide with the new TV contracts and Mchomes and Watson will also set new highs for contracts

I like Dak and think he can be a good Qb in this league. With that being said giving him that much money is absolutely insane. He should get more than Wentz and slightly les than Goff. He has not been pass the divisional round. Goff has. I don’t want to hear coaching, defense, special teams or any of that. Dak even said it himself
that he doesn’t deserve to be the highest paid player as he has not been to the the SB. If he is the highest paid it will only be for a day. Brady will be over there smiling and rightful so.

Everyone sees that but our front office

I’m holding out hope.

Stephen has made it pretty clear in the past that Dak needs pieces around him and that paying him would make it difficult.

They could’ve had Dak signed whenever they wanted and yet they chose not to.

I don’t think Daks play this year made anyone change their mind about the type of QB he is.

“We’ve got to land the plane and get his deal done! That’s on Jerry and myself. He’s our future. I think he stepped up and improved in all ways last year. … We went over this in depth with Coach McCarthy and he thinks [Dak] is a top-end, top-caliber quarterback. We can do everything we want to do and more with Dak. [McCarthy] can’t wait to spend time with him. We’ve got to land the plane on his contract and get him signed up sooner than later. He deserves everything he has coming. We got real, real close there to start the season and just didn’t finish up. He’s so laser-focused on wanting to win football games and compete that he really didn’t want the distraction once we didn’t get it done in that first week of going back and forth with the contract. We just got to move forward. He’s our quarterback of the future. I’ll take him any time when you go to war against these guys. We’re fortunate to have him.”
