Why change when we have so much talent and we're so close to a super bowl. I'm not sure why we even changed coaches when we're so close.

A play here, a first down there. Super Bowl.
Don't know whether that is a serious opinion or not...
I'll go with sarcasm.

The same great offense that got Dallas to 8-8.

Had the offense not been the most inconsistent unit in the entire NFL, Dallas would have been challenging for the top seed. Instead Dallas were the biggest pretenders in the NFL.

The reason Dallas underachieved was because of the offense.

In your scenario, if McGovern wins the LG job, the team develop Connor Williams as the backup, swing tackle.

Williams can be Swing T/G.

Also, make him a blocking TE for jumbo packages. I don't believe catching a 3 yard pass is that complicated. He's got the tough part down with blocking and blocking assignments.

Im not sure why Smith didn’t play special teams. He was an elite gunner in college.

That's the story I want to hear. We take a flyer on consensus 2nd round pick whose first couple of years are marred by injury, and he seems to get healthy and be panning out on the field, and then we don't take him to the games.

Very annoying. We probably lost to the Jets because of it. No healthy WRs. Austin had to carry the load.

The biggest change in offense that we need is a difference maker at TE

sign the best TE available in FA and pair him with Jarwin

That big possession type WR could be Noah Brown, if he stays healthy.
I also would like to see them use Devin Smith, as the lame ex coaching staff refused to do.

Both players know how to get open. Smith with the speed, Brown with the size.

I agree, I think the offense stays pretty much the same personnel.
Olawale is a club option to keep or not, So we will see what MM decides in there.
You are still talking about Noah brown!

Since when has that goof demonstrated the ability to consistently get open!

The guy blew about 98% of the opportunities he received when on the field.

He blows.

Get rid of these suckers and bring in new talent.

Tired of hearing about guys like Witten and Noah brown!

Well ok then.
He has not been given a real opportunity in a real offense. And has been injured the past 2 years. However, he is replaceable I am not saying he isn't, but he was that guy at OSU. Can he be again in certain situations, who really knows. Will see what happens this TC. This is his year to step up or be gone.

Agree about Witten, time to move on.

Jarwin is a nice #2 TE in the 1-2. He's not the guy to be the #1 TE and he doesn't block well enough.

If McCarthy runs a two TE scheme, then we will definitely need two more TEs. In his scheme, you need one vertical guy and one Blocking/Move the Chains TE. I have no idea what Witten's plans are but he still went for 8th in receptions among all TEs last year. He's still the best blocking TE in the NFL. All of this without a full Off Season. I'm not so sure he wouldn't be of value if McCarthy decides to run a TE scheme.

If he does this, then we can go lite on WRs and maybe it changes the discussion on what to do about Cooper. Not saying I would favor this but it is a possibility. You could go with Gallup who is improving year over year, Cobb who knows both schemes and bring in a young WR via draft and/or sign a cheaper Vet. We could easily go that route with a TE scheme. Could probably do the exact same thing with TE, draft one and sign one and still come out ahead, cap wise.

The great Jimmy Johnson said nothing stays the same. You either get better or you get worse. I hope mac agrees with this line of thinking. Always strive to get better.

He mentioned adding to what we have. Hoping he changes things so we aren’t as predictable. And start to change the JG playbook. We have a good Offense. Defense and ST needs to improve.
Best way to improve ST is to actually spend a decent draft pick on a strong PR and KO returner.

The best I ever saw us have was Bobby Hayes.

And while I do not expect anything like that..

a guy with sub 4.5 forty and who can produce at least one return inside midfield would be huge.

Also having better coaching to stop the clipping and holding penalties would make such a difference.

Are there any kick return specialists coming out in 2020?

I also believes that if the cowboys offense stays healthy and have the desire that they can score at will on any team. just have the improve the defense and special teams to compete for a playoff spot.

Meanwhile,

The 49ers are in the SB and they refuse to carry wittens and Noah browns on their roster.

20 something years later and..........

Enjoy the SB!

If you have hope on Noah night as well give that role to Dez.
