And get our new Franchise QB.
Lions would be dealing here I figure as they have no need for a QB.
This would be a great move. Trade draft picks and you would save almost 35 mil in cap space not paying Dak or the other draft picks you traded . The extra cap space would allow you to keep this roster together and sign any FAs you want.

Saints 10 pts
Packers 24 Garbage time special
Jets 22 really now....the Jets???
Pats 9 pts
Bills 15 pts
Bears 24 Another Garbage time special
Eagles 9 pts In the most imp game of the season.

Anyone ????
Ya didn't think so....
The thing that is so disturbing is you would of thought they Cowboys would of come out fired up and pissed off against the Jets after losing to the Saints and GB.

Dak clearly does not suck, but he's not a top 5 QB either. So, the question is can you build a good enough TEAM around him and still pay him silly money. If he's Russel Wilson coming into contract negotiations with a super bowl ring, its a different story. The problem we have is that the Eagles just placed a large bet on Wentz and the expectation is that b/c they made that decision, we should as well. But, what if drafting Jake Fromm and putting Dak's 35 million per year into upgrading the defense is a better approach to finally getting the team to the super bowl? Cheap Qbs on rookie contracts worked in Seattle, LA, and Philly. It didn't work in Dallas. So why pay the guy and surround him with less talent?

That's what a lot of people have been banging on for a long time.

Completely agree and it makes commercial and pragmatic sense.

We didn't reach the NFC Championship game with Prescott on a rookie contract - will it increase or decrease our chances with him taking circa $40 million a season...

Frightening really to think how highly rated he is by some. You do have to wonder if those people actually watch the games.

How anyone can defend him against the Eagles is beyond me. They were on their last legs, clinging on soooooooo badly and there for the taking. To score 9 points against a banged up defense and guys off the street was just embarrassing. His shoulder was fine the following week and he looked dandy during the warm ups so i'm not buying that excuse.

You question people who support Dak not watching the games? You just made a judgement on a QB who took a shot before that game and at half time because of a torn ligament in his throwing shoulder and playing on a team with a dysfunctional coaching staff. Unbelievable.

Romo missed practice sessions every week and took a shot for his back before games in the 2014 season. He was fantastic in pretty much every game except the 49ers game first up when he had barely thrown a ball for 6 months leading up to it and following back surgery and the Eagles game on Thanksgiving in which he was unable to take the shot for his back as it was a short week. Arguments that he shouldn't have played in either game but the back up option was...

If Prescott was so badly hurt then he should not have not played in the Eagles game - especially if he couldn't throw the ball properly (although some might say that it was difficult to differentiate with other weeks). Either way I would have rather Cooper Rush had played to hit open wide receivers.

Opens up the issue of why did Prescott play - he hardly every comes out of other games when they are done. I think to pad his stats and he does not want anyone else having a shot at taking his position. So Prescott probably insisted that he was fine for the Eagles game. In which case it comes down to the team doctor to prevent him from playing.

I'd rather just draft the best player available when its our turn. Do you have confidence in Jerruh and stephen to get a trade done that would benefit the cowboys? I guess I don't.

If Dak was truly injured why announce it a week before the game.

By league rules all teams are required to list injuries. Dak was unable to practice and by league rule Dallas listed him on the injury list.

Love to see your plan on how we do that, including the gathering of a bunch of firsts

Who am I kidding? I’ve been here just a couple of weeks and even I know what you’re about

Not when you're that close to the goal line. Your job as a quarterback is to get your team into the end zone.
If you can't, you can't claim to be the type of quarterback Cowboys fans rave about.
Dude....lol seriously blaming all that just in Dak. He does deserve some criticism but so does the wrs backs line and coaches who Called plays that defense already knew. It's more to it then just Dak mess ups

Except premium FA’s aren’t lining up to play with a rookie QB. So unless you want to overpay you aren’t getting top FA’s,
Why would a top WR FA want to come play with a rookie QB who will impact his productivity and potential future earnings on the next contract?
Why would top FA’s looking for a ring want to play with a rookie QB?
How would in house players react to the team letting Dak go? You don’t think they would consider how the team dealt with Dak when they start negotiating? Agents talk and teams that are perceived as not being all in to win do not get great FA’s. Teams that are perceived as not taking care of their own don’t get top FA’s and they don’t get hometown discounts,

Can we stop with the QB chasing already? Its the defense and special teams that need immediate attention.

Give Dak one more year to see if he can eliminate the inconsistency, like that second Eagles game. Build a defense first. Then, if Dak is not showing more consistency, then trade picks for a QB. And by the way, there is no guarantee that any of these college QBs are going to be better than Dak. A lot of top college QBs have failed in the NFL.
That's where I'm at which is why it's best to franchise him. Give him the year and see if he can take that next step forward. If not, start looking for a quarterback in 2021.

Same goes for our running back.
If he has a path to the goal line and misses a key hole, yes.
But the quarterback is suppose to see the entire field. He needs to know what the running back is doing, the receivers are doing, find the open spots in the end zone, throw the ball so the receivers can catch it, etc.
The running back's responsibility isn't that detailed.
Yes, the quarterback has more to be concerned about. But that's why he's the quarterback and why he gets most of the glory when the team wins and much of the blame when the team loses.

So you need coaches to tell you what to do to punch the ball in from inside the 10 yard line?
And, yes, I'm blaming that on Dak. He is the QUARTERBACK. His job is to know each player's responsibility including the wide receivers, the tight end, the running back, etc., ESPECIALLY, when inside the red zone. He is the one who touches the ball on every offensive play. Unless the coaches call three running plays, anytime the quarterback has the ball in his hands that close to the goal line, he is responsible.
In the RARE situation of a stupid play call like the one in the Seattle-New England Super Bowl game, it's on the quarterback.
Dak understands that. If he doesn't, get out and let someone do the job.
