You’d think some of these guys care about their legacy. I’d gladly take him for third and short plays only, but he’ll never accept that role. Just retire man

Love Witten, but it is time to move on.

Agree! Incredible career but I'm a little over it. We really will never be able to see what we can do at that position with him loitering around. Try elsewhere or hang it up.

Witten is still a pretty good blocker and catcher. Problem is he has slowed down tremendously with age. If he's willing to take a veteran minimum and a backup/part-time role, I would be ok with he coming back for another year.

Why would he do that?

I believe Witten feels he can still play another year or two and very likely would like to finish his career as a lifelong Cowboy. I also believe he thinks this team has a very good chance to not only make the playoffs in 2020 but also go far in the playoffs under this whole new coaching staff, so he definitely would like to be a part of that...if McCarthy is willing to keep him on board.

Part of me wants to see him have a chance to play for an NFL coach as he did with Parcels, but he really needs to hang’m up.

Can use a roster spot for an average blocker at best, whose specialty is catching 5 yard passes.

Just go rest up for the Hall in 5 years.
