That’s why we’ll never win anything with this guy. He’s a greedy dude. He wasn’t even good this season. He was terrible in the 4th quarter and against good teams.

If true, I'm not sure why they offered him that much. A QBs value is what some team, any team, is willing to pay for him. Do the Cowboys think some other team will be willing to pay Dak that much if they don't? Or are they not thinking in those terms?

Tell me right now what team would offer Dak that much or more if the transition tag was placed on Dak?

The Cowboys and Prescott were close to a deal in September that paid the quarterback approximately $33 million per season, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported. Then Prescott asked for more.
...
Prescott, who turns 27 in July, reportedly wants a deal that would place him as the highest paid quarterback in the league, or at least tied with him, per the Star-Telegram.
That’s Seattle Seahawks’ Russell Wilson, who makes $35 million a season.

They're fiddling around over 2 million/year?
6% of the contract.

Shouldn't there be some standard negotiating method to close a low percentage difference like that?

I wonder how much value Jerry places on keeping the drama alive.

In September they were close at 33M then Prescott decided he wanted more?......sounds like a greedy headcase in the making...........it may be time to tag him or find a stop gap free agent and focus on going another route in getting a franchise QB.........him flaking out like this speaks volumes.

I wouldn't call it greedy, but it's bad negotiating juju to reset your demands up after you've already negotiated toward a price.

If it is true that Dallas really offered Dak 33 mil a year in Sept than its probably off the table now.

Look at the Jimmy G contract. That's Dak's floor. Dak is younger with more experience. He can shoot for the moon and worst case, he can get Jimmy G money on the open market.
But doesn't Jimmy G's have very little guaranteed money?

Jimmy's contract was $137M over 5 years with $74M guaranteed. The 49ers can cut him after 3 years with very little dead money.

As others have noted, this is old news. This is just a reminder that:
- If he does sign, its going to be for absolutely huge money and a huge percentage of the cap. For those thinking the cap is just going to continue to grow, look at the NBA. Their cap is going down. Cord cutters are starting to take away from the TV money.
- The Cowboys haven't been super insulting with him. The talking heads going on about "disrespect" need to read this crap. Dallas didn't offer him $15m per year or something. They almost had a deal that would have made him a top 5 paid QB.

Just give him the extra 2 million. After this mahomes will drive the market up to 40. After the new CBA your going to see starting QBs getting 45. This is why Dak wants a short term deal. Get him for 4-5 years.

I don't care if he turned it down, that's just what is being reported. Offered 33 million a season and refused. Asked for more instead.
Sorry, time to look to FA and draft for a QB. He’s simply not worth that kind of $ given how he disappears and sucks in big games.

Not trying to start another Dak thread, lol
I think they cave on Dak... can't post source tweet.

Stephen Jones on the franchise tag and Dak Prescott: "Our goal is to avoid it." Here's our report on a chat with Cowboys VP.

Dak > Cowboys F.O,

when it comes to mental fortitude.

Trying to wait on Mahome's deal I bet...
It won't do him any good he's not in that class of quarterback. Kind of reminds me when Donovan McNabb would compare himself with Tom Brady, and Peyton Manning. No

Any extension would have been added after the last year of his existing deal. He was getting $2 million for this season either way.

Thats just for cap purposes. He probably would have cashed a 20 million dollar signing bonus in 2019. Quick finance question: Is it better financially to get 20 million now or 20 million next year?
