First, this $40 MM/year number may be pure fantasy - there is no current foundation for suggesting that is the number. Second, times are a changing, and every team is going to have to work around big paydays for QBs. This is not just a Cowboy phenomenon, it's just the Cowboys current issue to deal with because their QB's contract is up.

we’ll see because he’s gonna get paid

It was more than the Eagles game that hurt Daks contract. It started with the Saints, Vikings, Jets was real head scratcher, Bills, Bears. Regardless if Garrett was going to get fired it was Daks job as a leader of this team to go to Philly and put the Cowboys on his back for once and lead this team to victory. He failed miserably. Unlike Wentz who did what Dak needed to do but Wentz did it with all back ups. Nobody wants to hear about injuries because everyone has them. Thats just a losers excuse.

You could say that about every player that game, no one looked interested in winning that game. The Philly game put the nail in Garrett's coffin and that was a bigger win.
I seem to remember the defense left it all out there that day with the notable exception of Jaylon Smith. If my memory serves me correctly I would challenge anyone to go back and rewatch it and tell me what they think of Jaylon now.

He's definitely going to get paid substantial dollars, but $32-35 million is within the scope of the current market, and $40 million would be a big reach in my mind. We can only wait and see.

Well, he has seen it from his buddy Zeke how to do it.

Big difference. RB get like one big contract. This is it for Zeke. Dak contract will not only be way bigger being a QB but he can play into another one.

Not to mention that reports are Dallas is offering over 32-33 million a year and near 90-100 million guaranteed. Zeke isn't seeing that.

I’m a Cowboy fan.

I hate that I can identify problems long before they can. I wish they were as good as me.

Easy to identify the problems, not so easy to solve them, there's 31 other teams in the league, the salary cap, injuries and the draft. We all like to think we could return the Cowboys to the SB, maybe multiple times, if we were in charge, but that's not realistic...

I agree with him

No it didn't,, Dak is a starting QB in this league, and it only helps his value that he is the starting QB for the Cowboys.
Performance based pay at the QB position was yesterdays pay structure, that no longer exists.
If your starting you get payed top dollar, and considering which team that is makes a difference, and if its the Cowboys,,, it does.

Top 12 QB in YPA on play-action passes
1 Tannehill 13.5
2 Stafford 12.0
3 Winston 11.9
4 Mariota 11.5
5 Garoppolo 10.8
6 Minshew 10.7
7 Cousins 9.7
8 Rivers 9.7
9 Wilson 9.4
10 Watson 9.2
11 Mayfield 9.2
12 Prescott 8.9

Same 12 QB, ranked by YPA without play action
1 Prescott 8.0
2 Tannehill 7.9
3 Watson 7.5
4 Wilson 7.4
5 Cousins 7.4
6 Winston 7.4
7 Stafford 7.3
8 Rivers 7.3
9 Garoppolo 7.2
10 Minshew 6.4
11 Mayfield 6.4
12 Mariota 5.3

of top 32 QB with most play-action dropbacks, per PFF

Any stat anywhere that tries to tell you Winston, Mariota, Minshew Cousins Mayfield... or Dak......etc etc etc, that is used to try and tell you they are better QB's than Mahomes, Brady, Rodgers, Brees, Lamarr Jackson or Wilson etc (who i know is on the list but behind some of these guys), is not worth the piece of paper it is written on

what about the ones he led us to wins over them...he's beat'm more than not.
guess those don't count.
some on here get torched for bringing up Dak over-all w/l record.....but apparently only losses count.
noted.

colin is wrong...
Dak at best is the best QB in the division..
2nd best at worse...and its close.
we can win with Dak.

Oh you’re not wrong.. My evaluation of him is taking into consideration his entire time here and what I see is a solid QB that needs a lot of help around him to win a championship and that he is not the guy to elevate a team on his own and even if he was the elite guys who actually could do it aren’t doing it either.
I don't understand why most can not see your view of Dak because it is exactly what he is, a good/average QB who need top tier talent all around him to function . His game needs others to elevate it , great QB's elevate the play of others and that isn't what Dak has ever done. I see the 4 round pick used argument used but Dak cost this team a 4th and a first because of his lack of what you say he doesn't have the ability to elevate the play of others around him. Sad part is the Jones boys will pay the $$$$ and the team will be doomed for years, For Dak to be the QB of the Cowboys shouldn't be more than a 20-22 million a year deal if not there are a few options that will be available this off season and hopefully that is what Jerry, and Mike do shop for one and tag Dak.

Nothing that happened last season is a barometer for anything. The entire team cannot be evaluated properly. But Prescott first three seasons says it all. Pay the man
I say use the last 3 says it all, and no way do you pay the man.

Holding out for a ridiculous contract isn't helping either.

it's February ... the SB was last week ... "holding out" sounds a bit much

about week 16 - that week Dak played his only injured game of his career - probably his worst game

and it was his shoulder - the whole the commentary ignores the obvious - Collin ought to be in politics

Go back and read my post more carefully. Mahomes, Brady, Rodgers, Brees, and Jackson weren't among the Top 12 QB in YPA on play-action passes, so of course they wouldn't appear on a list of the "same 12 QB" when ranked by YPA on passes without play action.

In that case I totally disagree. You absolutely pay the man. Did you see how horrible Mahomes was. Prescott is a winner Mahomes is Mr. Hail Mary media lover boyYes. Let’s start Brandon Weeden again. LMAO what do people think of the alternative
