He sucked against literally every good defense we played. A big chunk fo his yards came in garbage time, and he failed to lead the team to any come from behind victories. Could he be surrounded by more talent??? I doubt it if we want a good defense. I think we've seen Dak peak and I don't see any more upside. So, yeah, roll the dice in a good QB draft class and spend the cap dollars on the defense rather than Dak and Amari.

But I do agree Jerry is going to cave and sign him just like he did with Zeke and DLaw. Jerry's reputation as a GM is unlikely to improve.
I think he improved in some areas this year. Regressed in some areas, especially with using his legs. We can go back and forth about it with stats and blah blah but it comes down to opinion. They didn’t seem to rely on the run game as much or maybe it’s the way the plays were being called. The whole season seemed off to me. Not just Dak. I want to see what happens with the culture change around there. No I will believe it when I see it but change should be good for all of us. We both know JJ will keep him. It’s just a matter of if his agent is going to have him hold out if tagged. Let me ask you something, if we tag him is it possible to sign him to a contract during the season.. Maybe the contract doesn’t take effect until the season is over but he is locked in.

Actually the Chiefs probably should get him signed ASAP. Do not wait another season. With a SB locked on his resume and he's now considered the best QB in the league, his value is only going in one direction. I would think they could get him signed in $40-42M range now but that could easily change to $45M+ after next season.

Also, another interesting thing about getting him signed. I wonder if his signing will finally slow down the escalating salaries of the QB market coz no other young QB can claim to have his credential, esp with a SB under his belt. The QB market could be in for a correction AFTER he signs. The only up and coming QB that may come close is Lamar Jackson and I'm not sure he would qualify even with a SB.
Someone posted yesterday about the projected tag amounts after the CBA. 2022 it could be up to 50 something million. That’s why if we are keeping Dak and he wants 35 a year then do it and go as long term as he will go. His agent knows what’s coming and is likely the reason he wants short term. Don’t be surprised if we sign him for 3 years because that’s the longest Dak will sign for. Some say it’s smart and some say it’s selfish and greedy. He is gambling on himself but not really. If he signs for 3 years and 100 million then he has security if he gets career ending injury. After his shoulder last season I would think he won’t gamble on playing under the tag.

Just read something interesting that Albert Breer mentions I hadn't thought about......the extra game added to the new CBA will impact player's contracts/salaries with new hard money, not much, but adjusted for an additional REGULAR season game.

No, it means I am much smarter than you Dak haters. Time keeps proving that to be true. Just wait and watch.

Lol...no. It plainly means what others can see a mile away. You are not truly a Cowboys fan. Not deep down...no true fan, of any team, would hope for his team’s QB to fail. It’s ok to like and root for your current QB. But as soon as you root for his replacement to fail, your true colors are revealed.

Yes, a tag is just to keep him from hitting the open market. But no way he's putting on a uniform with a tag. I have no issue with a 3 year deal b/c it gives the team time to draft and develop a QB.

Think of it this way then:
  • Pay Brady that $35 million a year over Dak (it's the same dollars range)
  • Tag and trade Dak as Irvin mentioned and get at least one 1st round pick, and likely more
  • Use one of your picks to groom a quarterback behind Brady until he retires
This is exactly how I see it.

Maybe, in this scenario, the team, that trades for Dak, would be, the suddenly in need of a QB Patriots.
Wouldn't that, be a, Year long media circus.

If you told me I could sign Tannehill for 25-30m per year and get two first rounders for Dak, I would pack Dak's bags myself and drive him to the airport.

That's a big IF, but I'd buy the plane ticket. :muttley:

So basically you are saying that you are a Dak fan...and not a true Cowboys fan. I’m pretty sure many people already knew this, but it’s good that you confirmed it.

And if failing wins not winning the SB, then TB will fail next season is my guess...wherever he plays. So will 31 other teams/QBs. He should just retire
Actually, I'm not 100% positive, but I'm pretty sure I've known AC since before Dak was even a Cowboy.

No question......In fact, there's a good chance we're talking about a 49er Super Bowl win if Brady was their QB. Instead, Shanahan tried to hide his QB behind great D and solid running game. Hell, Steven Young just mention this week how Shanahan didn't trust Garoppolo.
The only reason I disagree with you is that I think Brady would've gotten killed, due to a lack of mobility.

Its hard for me to put my dak support to the side and look at this just as a dallas fan, but if my options are sign Dak long term or tag Dak, sign Brady and trade dak for at least a 1plus and now have brady and multiple 1’s to draft the potential brady replacement in 2 years....I have to at least consider it
That's fair.........What are you doing on this site???

Michael said that Goodell should try to persuade Kraft to not let him leave because it’s best for the NFL.

I disagree.

If Tom Brady signs with Dallas NFL fans will go bonkers. Ratings will go through the roof. Jerseys will sell.. All that good stuff.

The hype around this would be on another level.
But Boston would have another Tea Party, but instead of tea, they'd be throwing Patriots gear into the harbor.
