Hopefully the CBA saves us because we won’t be able to build an ultra team like he needs.
Honestly with good coaching an ultra team wont be needed. I think fir years Jerry was trying to stack talent thinking it was the way to go...that worked pre salary cap, but now coaching is more important then it has ever been. Im just glad he got convinced or figured that out.

Market would disagree with you
If he was a free agent he’d get 35 or there about
From what team? I don't think anyone is higher on him than the Cowboys but then no other team has the highest paid OL and RB.

If he was free, think CIN, MIA or LAC would take him over a rookie QB? That would allow CIN to take Young and not take a chance on a QB. If there is a sure thing in this draft, it is Chase Young. Not one of these QB's is a sure thing.

Time for the Dumb Post Midterm boys and girls. Identify the dumbest thing in this post:

A) Wentz being a total wuss doesn't matter
B) Wentz had no talent around him
C) Dallas destroyed Philly when Dak was healthy but it doesn't matter because they lost to the Jets with half their starters hurt
D) I can't choose, the first three make my head hurt.

The correct answer is "D".

Yup, a typical Dak True Believer; ignore the facts, attack the messenger, and cherry pick on Wentz to distract.

This pretty well aligns with what I think. I would like to see at least one real impact free agent signed on defense - DT or DB preferably. I think we have enough talent on offense to do well, assuming we sign Cooper, Cobb and Dak, and the new coaching staff helps, but defense still needs some upgrades to make it a more formidable unit.

Agree that the new coaching staff will make a big difference. @xwalker called it early on that teams knew how to read our DL/LB keys and we never adjusted.

At DT they have to sign a FA and draft someone high also, at Safety it seems like they can plan on getting a starter in the first or second round of the draft.

But after they draft I think they will sign a quality backup who is starting caliber but a guy who didn't get a big contract to start.

Someone who can be a good backup at a reasonable price.

Someone like..........

Jeff Heath.

There is not many guys who led the league in passing sitting home on the couch
Heck the 49ers might have a SB if they had a QB and don’t think they don’t know that

I'm focused on the facts that Wentz has completed one pass in the playoffs for his entire career, he has a lot of talent around him and that Philly lost to Dallas by 27 points in the game where Wentz and Dak were both healthy.

You have to rule out the teams that already have one under contract unless they can move him and I don't think Garoppolo is high end trade bait.

You have some vet FA QB's that might be available and for the teams that are in need of a QB, Lawrence is hanging out there in the 2021 draft. He is still regarded as the plum.

It is unknown what the other teams think of Prescott but he has been there for 4 seasons so he has faced every team but you have to take the GM and HC turnover into consideration.

CAR is kind of a wild card with a new coaching staff and Newton. Is Rivera sold on Haskins? Could Newton end up there?

I am not saying there isn't a market for Prescott but at the price he wants, I don't know how many would even be interested.

lol - I knew Wentz had missed most of the Eagles playoff games, but I didn't realize he had only completed one playoff pass.

I’m not confident in McCarthy.. I hope I’m wrong.. We just don’t have the type of QBs he’s accustomed to here.

.

There will always be a limit on interested teams in a given year for the reasons you mentioned, but there will be teams interested in a proven starter, not just this year, but the next and the next. And that doesn't just apply to starters that are proven to be elite - those are few and far between. We have to remember that signing a QB to a long term contract isn't just about keeping him off the free agent market for a single season, it's about holding on to his rights for several years. He can only be franchised twice, and the franchise tag, especially twice, would alienate a QB.

That said, there always has to be a limit to what a team should be willing to pay, but since we really don't know where the two sides stand it's pretty hard to make a judgement.

I am not making a judgement, I don't know what he's worth on the open market and don't know what he's worth to this HC.

The greatest unknown of all of this to me is McC's view of Prescott's skillset and how does that fit his offense? Is he willing to stake his redemption shot on this QB? It's the Joneses that keep running their mouths how great he is, while trying to get him to take a deal. What morons. Mouthy morons.

Omer, you are dead on, we have no idea how far apart they are, the only thing we know is the son keeps stirring the pot that something's happening and rumors keep circulating. That Brady rumor was probably started by the Joneses to see if they can move things along. They tried that 40M crap last year to try and make him look greedy. Like Booger could make anyone look greedy.
