Yup, Dez was never required to be a man. They coddled him and let him have his way. Jerry is responsible for Dez's downfall.

If his calendar is different, that's a bad sign that he hasn't grown up. The NFL's calendar is public.

I think he gets it from the Joneses! They still refuse to start their free agency the same time as everyone else!

If he can be no better than a 4th WR, then I'd conclude that bringing him in is irrelevant, and we might be better off w/ a talented youngster.

I think he brings abilities that a "youngster" just couldn't.

I love Amari Cooper, but I think that Dez is a better endzone receiver than Cooper is. Just my opinion, but I don't think it's a strength of Cooper's game the way it was for Dez.

(I'm sure that will ruffle some feathers)

Hey bro..

I have posted this a couple of times in regards to this off repeated statement about his route running.

I have no idea who started that but nobody seems to know.

So it just seems to be something quick and dirty to slur Dez.

No evidence I can find on it.

Now dropping passes..I can join in about that being an issue, but the last season he was playing for us he had a ankle and knee injury he was playing with.

That may have affected his concentration at times enough to add to the drops. But he never complained about it at the time..

nor after he was released. I bet his Achilles injury was a result of those other injuries as they would cause him to change his running stride and put more strain and pop..

goes the Achilles.

Just my thoughts.

Dez can run routes and did, at times. However, he also jogged his routes at times. Saw this several times myself.

If he still has those abilities. And a lot of that comes down to whether he's stayed in shape or not. Do we know anything about that?

Standard answer by Stephen Jones. Never say never. It has always meant no in the past.

Like when you're a kid and Mom or Dad says maybe or "we'll see" but really mean no.

Or like when they say, "We're not going to be market setters." Yep.

I have some information from a guy I know who has seen him. His reports have been extremely positive. "Weight is down, looks in great shape, running and jumping really well. Routes weren't great but never have been" is what I got.

I know he can't get separation.
Dez never had tons of separation.

Gallop and Cooper..yes.

Dez was always a possession receiver.

He did run deep routes as decoy.

But was mainly effective on the quick slant and jump fade type passes with quick throws.

These did not require more than using his body to position himself b/w the QB and the DB. Dez was a big body WR.

Not a speed straight-line separator WR.

He would also have to accept not being targeted. He might actually make a good decoy, if he can handle it.
He should be targeted. Give him a job on a gun range running around holding a target over his head.

Then give Mr.McGoo an M4A1 rifle set to full-auto.

If Dez can come out unscathed then we'll know he is in shape and agile...

Just don't let me show up my AXMC .338...

I think Karwin could be a good TE. He did very well in his limited action. He knows how to run after the catch and makes TDs. With no Witten it leaves him with a chance.

Definitely I like him more than witten and think he could do damage.

I also think Dez would do greater damage, and is a bigger threat. He would be like Evan engram, with better high point ability.

There were many writers, scouts and opposing players that made similar comments to mine about Dez' limited route tree. Word was out that he rounded off his routes badly and failed badly to get the kind of separation that he sorely needed to make him an accessible target. Enough so, that Dak was reluctant to take too many chances to go his way, Enough so, to incite him into throwing tantrums on the sidelines.

Whatever the cause of his troubles to get free of his coverage was seen as, it became a lingering curse in the last few years of his time with the Cowboys. The drops, especially in his final year, turned out to be the cherry atop the cake, leading to his release. The recurrent tantrums certainly didn't help his cause, either. Whether Stephen decides to welcome him back into the fold remains to be seen. Let's hope he proves he deserves it first.

Yes.

Aware of his flaws.

If you watched that video I posted, Dez had some some strong moves, too.

As for what other opposing plays said, I/ thought that just jawing to get under Dez's skin. Dez free lanced at times.

And he was one of the best at uncovering when the QB scrambled. Not a route tree but the results were often big plays nobody else could pull off.

Didn't hear other DBs mentioning that stuff.

Just saying.

And Dak better be able to hit his WRs and not throw behind them or 6 ft over their heads or 10 ft in front of them in the ground.

When he makes the big money and he still does that..

It's going to drive us all nuts.

If true, he has a chance.

Would make sense he would gain weight not being able to do alot of running.

I expect an announcement soon Dallas held a workout with him privately.

Strumming my fingers and whistling Dixie right now.

I agree.

Cooper is not a physical WR.

He is a great route runner and straight line running is among the best.

Amari inside the 20 is not a threat.

Dez lives inside the 20s.

I just hope if he comes back he can still elevate. That was his best route tree move.

His last 3 years are etched in stone. Not much to see. 2 years removed from the game will not have made him better. Just don't see him in silver and blue again.
