Quinn was the best defensive player on Dallas last year (by a mile.) I'll take another year of that production for no long term investment.
Quinn was good last year. Not great. Would be absolutely crazy to tag him. He’s a good pass rusher but he’s not that good against the run. Tagging him would be an expensive mistake.

Really? Get your facts straight.

Gregory was going to apply for reinstatement but got arrested for ANOTHER DUI and then didn't apply because he knew it would have gotten refused. The league then said that Gregory's lasted problem will have an effect on whether he will ever get reinstated because this happened while already on suspension. Gregory stats of only 7 career sacks is fact and Quinn's 11.5 sacks in 2019 is also a fact and are MORE than Gregory's career sack totals.

We should franchise tag Robert Quinn. How is the Dallas defense going to look next year if it loses its most productive player?

Let Dak walk, and start investing more in the trenches.
I threw up a little in my mouth

It’s funny how I can get on here read a few post and think it could get worse than Jerry and son.

I don't think Dallas will have to tag him to get him resigned. Last season he played at 7 mill, I think Dallas could get a deal done at around 10 mill per season on a 3 year deal. Age is working against Quinn in terms of top 5 to 3 money.

Quinn was great at going after the QB... but terrible against the run or securing the end. How many times did the opposing team sweep on his side because he was too far upfield going after another sack?

He wants to stay great at a team friendly price, but unfortunately some other team is going to grab him because of his gaudy stat and offer him way more money...

Does anyone have anything on Randy Freaking Gregory???

His situation needs closure before any decision is made at DE.

For the OP I will add that no one will pay Quinn anywhere near that tag cost. He’d be lucky to get the same contract again. He can play but high end DE contracts are not handed out to one dimensional, aging pass rushers. He’d be lucky to get 3 for 30. Real, real lucky.

Don't like this idea. You guys overvalue Quinn, sure he's great at getting sacks, but is part of the run game issues we had all last year. I wouldn't pay him that type of money, I guess if you do franchise him, you better be getting a DE in the first or second round.

Welp, guess you got inside info because this is the first I heard about DUI/arrest and RG.

Even if we manage to re-sign Dak and Cooper in time that we no longer are needing the franchise tag on any current player, the Cowboys are not gonna franchise tag a 30 year old DE which instantly makes him among top 3-5 highest paid DEs in NFL. He's not a young Dlaw for years investment to come.

Heck it will be more sheer luck and stunningly new revelation (at best) to see Stephen actually re-sign Quinn to a 3 year that nets the 33 million that Quinn may be seeking at this stage
and last run of his career .
But no way will Stephen make him instantly one of the very highest paid DEs and hold that much 2020 cap dollar up for a 30 yr old DE.
