I remember reading a forum post by someone, I think it was on here, who had a shoulder surgery similar to what Brees had. Said it bothered him when he woke up in the morning every day, and it still hurt for him to throw a football around the yard with his kids. Brees is 41 years old, with a lot more miles on his arm than your average football-fan dad and a lot more hits taken to it as well. It's not crazy to think that his arm may be done.

What the Saints should do IMO - no BS - is treat Brees like the Spurs used to do with Tim Duncan. Have him sit the first 3/4ths of the season while Bridgewater plays, start Brees in December to get him tuned up, then ride his fresh arm as far into the playoffs as it will take you. It sounds like a total casual-fan post but I think that's the one way the Saints can still win a title.

But would teddy agree to that? But agree he needs load management to be effective

...and it’s not even close.

Phillip Rivers. I want him to get one.
Might as well do it with us.
He needs to get one because he is an elite from that draft class.

Listen, Blue.
I concur.
However ... Does Rivers not have a reputation for being caustic, angry and strident?
I really dont think Rivers would be happy behind an average player such as Dak.

If you can get him to "Ring Jerry's Bell" it might work out. There's not a lot to dislike about him 14 years starting 224 consecutive starts, only 4 losing seasons.

Hey, if you meant last year. I agree.
I was referring to the two players over the course of their careers.

I'm already on record saying I think Rivers is probably toast. He did not look like the same guy last year to me and I saw several of his games. Maybe he makes a short come-back, but I wouldn't be willing to take that chance based on what I saw recently.
I haven't been a fan of Rivers for some time now and the fact some are wanting him over Dak is ludicrous. If he couldn't get it done with hall of fame players in their prime on offense than no way he gets it done with the cowboys without hall of famers in their prime.

Never heard of you......where did you come from with 35,000 posts?

A lot of times when I see threads with dumb topics I'll look and it'll be from posters that I've never heard of.

That has nothing to do with anything.

oh, cool. My opinion is dumb.

Yay, you!

He's and elite "from that draft class", but that doesn't make him elite in the scheme of things, and especially not at age 38. He was a very good QB for his career, but he is not the right direction for the Cowboys. I don't think he would upgrade the position at this point in his career, and he would be, at best, a stand in for a year or two.

Parcells brought in vinny testeverde at what? 40 years old?

I think he’s worth a 2 year run.

it’s not like Jerry’s ideas have given us anything in twenty four years now

Saw a quote from Rivers and he doesn’t sound real confident. He’s looking for a two-year deal maximum. Paraphrasing he said whoever he goes to if they stink it up he’s probably done after one year and if the team plays really good they’ll probably would want to go another year with him. Whoever he goes to the they better have a solid contingency plan at QB. Any team who signs an aging QB who’s in decline is going to have to start looking in the draft this April for their replacement. Not sure many teams are going to be thrilled signing a QB who says they only want to play two more years

Vinny was brought in because the team hadQuincy Carter and was scrambling for something resembling an effective QB. Having Dak is not the same as having Quincy Carter.

Besides, the team went 6-10 with Vinny, so that's really not an example of an effective strategy.

Beyond the record, Vinny was just another fill in piece in a transition from Quincy to Chad Hutchinson to Vinny to Drew Henson to Drew Bledsoe until we finally got lucky that an undrafted free agent that sat on the bench for 3 years worked out. That's not really a preferred path to getting a high quality QB.

Na, we don't need a QB. According to some fans, our offense is elite. Lets just draft another 1st round RB and run it every down. Trade Gallup and let Cooper go.
