Does Dak Prescott think he’s worth $40 million per year?

In September, Dak Prescott reportedly turned down a contract that would have paid him roughly $33 million annually. The Cowboys quarterback wanted more.

How much more?

Russell Wilson‘s $35 million per year average set the bar last April, and Patrick Mahomes soon will reset it.

So where does Prescott fit?

Kimberley Martin of YahooSports.com asked Prescott if he was worth $40 million annually in a new deal.

Dak has all the leverage with this negotiation. The Cowboys set the table by caving and paying Zeke last year. Now, they have a new Head Coach who has an opportunity to get working with the team early and oops, the QB is not signed. If the Cowboys end up franchising Dak, you won't see him until training camp starts or a new deal is done.

I don't believe the annual dollars are nearly as important as the length of the deal. Once again, Dak is betting on himself and will be happy to wet his beak again on a new deal a few years down the road.

25 is plenty but since other teams way overpaid now Dallas will.

Garrett has trained him well with that vague answer.

Learned a long time ago...... sometimes it's best to pay attention to what a person DOESN'T SAY. I'm confident they reach a deal before the 25th. Remember Coop is on deck waiting......

“Yeah, I mean, I’m wondering the same thing,” Prescott said when Martin asked him when he will get paid. “Y’all know just as much as me. Love when that day comes. But I have confidence in my agency, my agents, my team. I’ve got confidence in the Cowboys. Something will get done.

Dak thinks he is worth however much his agent can get for him. Why shouldn't he feel that way? The same was true for Zeke in 2019. Now use them correctly so these expenditures can be justified.

"Martin reminded Prescott she’s not the one writing the checks.

"“I’m not either,” Prescott said. “If it’s my call to write it, yeah, no telling. I mean, let’s be honest, right? So like I said before, I mean, I trust my agent. I trust the Cowboys. Something will get done. We’re not going to sit here and put a number on it. Something will happen.”"

Sounds more like, "No comment" with a Jerry Jones bent to it.

Like asking Jerry, "What do you think?"
And Jerry says, "If all pigs drank water some pigs ain't gitting no water and I'll be living in a desert like Vegas. But oh! When I get there there's gonna fun times. (wink) And we're gonna do right by Dak, and he's gonna get his fair share cuz we feel with him in a Cowboy uniform, and we're gonna get these players he needs....and signed, and you can be sure that we'll find the uh.....the uh.....the water to git ever body to OTAs an....and....and and...uh...into training camp by the time camp starts."

Does "yeah" mean he'd writes that check?
Does "no telling" mean he can't make up his mind?
