Jerry Jones. I believe we had 15 different starting quarterbacks after Troy Aikman. Then Tony Romo . We came close. But there’s only one constant losing factor in my opinion. And that’s the micromanagement of our owner. I don’t see anything changing until he changes. So you can blame the quarterback you can blame the coach you can blame the team. But Where should the real blame lie. For me it’s at the top that’s Where it all starts. Yes I know he has three rings. It’s something drastically changed and it just wasn’t Jimmy.

I agree but they need to figure out how to operate with Jerry.

Our biggest problem the past decade was Jerry had his ego attached to Jason Garrett and wouldn't let him go.
??....2020 is not past decade.....JJ ain't gonna change:thumbdown:

Yeah but I would like to think that Jerry wouldn't give him 10 years and try to tell people that keeping things the same gives us some kind of advantage.

Well, that's a decade we're not getting back

Yeah.. The Jones's have never valued quality coaching.. They believe the game is mostly won by talent and coaches don't have much of an impact.

I don't think they have learned their lesson either.

Every year though schemes have become more and more important. Tennessee almost bucked the trend by playing perfect fundamental football but Mahomes and Andy Reid were still too much at the end of that day.

Jerry gave himself 25 years to win it his way. Ok, it didn't work out. In comes McCarthy.

Yeah you can point to Bill Parcells but most people claim he was brought in to help get AT&T stadium built.

He is an outlier in their coaching hires.. They hired Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett immediately after and went right back to their old ways.

Yep

And I expect Jerry to follow suit if Fat Mikey disappoints. Probably what he has in mind for his Pizza Boy.

Jerry Jones: “$6billion and one, $6billion and two, $6billion and...

Stephen Jones: “Daddy, they’re talking bad about you on CZ again!”

JJ: “Darn it, son...you made me lose count!”

SJ: “Sorry, daddy.”

JJ: “It’s okay, son...bring daddy another Johnnie Blue, willya? Now, where was I...? Oh yeah...$6billion and three, $6billion and four, $6billion and...”

We have an entire new coaching staff and the clapper is gone, the future looks better just because of that.
But yet all we have this off season so far are whiner threads and posts. Same old Jerry past 25 years crap, same old Dak threads, same old whining.

It's really hard to be optimistic right now.. We need some player acquisitions to build some optimism.

Right now we're being told that we're going to be a better team while somehow paying Dak and Amari elite money when we couldn't get it done on their rookie deals like most teams do.

Dallas needs a spark and something that builds excitement and hope.. Right now all we have is Mike McCarthy and i'm sorry if that doesn't have me doing cartwheels.

That claim is stupid.

Wade Phillips was an Xs and Os hire and Jason Garrett was a HC candidate for a while (whether or not he should have been) while he was an HC.

Jerry held on to Jason too long, obviously, but the idea that they don't value coaching is way off.

I don't see it that way at all.

They are more concerned with hiring guys that won't threaten their ego and ability to do things their way. That is the #1 priority when hiring a guy.

Wade Phillips and Garrett were horrible head coaching hires.

I understand that. A lot to get done yet to see a direction. And there will be mixed opinions on that as usual. Some will love Dak is signed, some will hate it. Some will love Amari is signed, some will say waste of cap space. And the 1st round draft pick, the same will happen.

I guess I am looking at it from the viewpoint, there is some excitement this off-season, all because Garrett is gone. As if he was still here, I doubt I would be on here posting, unless it is to whine he is still here and how Jerry is still senile. (well he is, but had a moment of sanity :muttley:). I get that, but the constant past 25 years stuff is just old. I look to moving forward as the past is the past, so why keep bringing it up, except to throw out some jokes at times. But I guess that is the way some are.

I have a friend, he keeps bringing up the same crap over and over from the past, and most non Cowboys related. He is a Cowboys hater by the way. I told him he needs to get new subjects.

To me firing Garrett and hiring a new HC, which is MM, and allowing him to hire his own staff peaks my off-season interest to move forward. I am just optimistic it will be better, as it can't be any worse if they build around the base talent. Which I think they will, and with better coaching.

I wasn't on board with Wade, nor Garrett, I wasn't on board with him as OC. When he was made HC, I decided to see what he can do, all because of how they finished the season after Wade was fired. After the 3 years on 8-8 and win and in, but lost games, I was done.

I guess I should have been done before that.

Jerry has said in the past that he likes hiring first time head coaches.

Stephen has said in the past that they're not going to spend high draft picks on safeties and defensive tackles.

So we've had to deal with coaches learning on the job and not having a topnotch defense because of their ideology.

Mike McCarthy is not a first time head coach hire. And there is talk of drafting a safety and DT in the first three rounds. So maybe the Jones's have learned their lessons. Things could indeed be looking up.
