I'm tired of 25 years of no NFC Championships and SBs. Jerry stop waisting roster spots on washed up players like Lee and Witten.

Why are you letting emotions cloud your judgement? It's time this team steps over the weak and trample the dead. Let's get back to winning and forget people's feelings.

You finally have a tough HC so let him lead from the front over the sick, lame, and lazy!

Not buying this as emotional. Witten knows he won't be back. Until LVE proves he's 100%, Lee is a good stopgap.

I'm tired too but Witten and Lee are not in the same situations. Lee has accepted the backup / fill-in role as an older player and I think he can still contribute there next year. Witten should probably retire as I don't think he can accept that role.

Jerry is doing just that. McCarthy has cleaned house with the coaching staff. He will do the same with players.

I don’t know if Sean Lee is washed up or not. He’s been a helluva great player and leader here for a decade. He may have a year left.

But I’m also more aligned with the Bill Belechick philosophy of roster management: Its better to get rid of a guy a year early than a year late.

Bro, I would agree with you, ....except...Sean Lee played the whole year last season for the first time in his career, and he put up pretty good numbers. If the Cowboys resign him to the vet minimum for 1 - 2 years, just in case, I'm good with that.

Look around the stadium at all the #50 and #82 jerseys. That’s enough for Jerry.

And it’s not like his eye will find a better replacement anyway and why he hangs on so long.

Those guys aren’t killing us though. It’s the big contract guys who under perform.

I can't argue with that but I think if he's willing to play on a reasonable deal to stay with the team, he's a throwback and I think it's worth the risk. He's the kind of veteran who helps your team beyond his football skills. I'm biased of course because I love the way the dude has played the game. I'd take 22 Sean Lee's hearts any day. His body just didn't hold up.

Yeah, Sean Lee was the problem. I hope he’s gone.
The dude still has the eye to see where he belongs to stop the play, but his body just can't get there in time. It's over.

If Jerry uses the, "You're Fired!" comment, it should be when he is in a room full of mirrors while wearing his D cap, Dallas sweatshirt, and cleats as he prepares to walk the sidelines at training camp as the GM.

Lee:
He took a back seat and accepted it. When he was needed last season he stepped in and played well. I would not mind seeing him return for another season. And he is willing to help the young LB's to succeed in his place.

I think Lee can still offer a lot. As we need LB's. We have Jaylon, which many are down on, and LVE recovering from a career threatening injury. Thomas is a FA, as well as Lee. So unless there are a lot of good LB's in FA, which will cost, and in the draft, where we need help in other areas as well, then keep Lee and Thomas.

Witten:
He did not take a back seat, so we are told, and sure seemed that way. But I am pretty sure he was willing to help the other TE's. As they said themselves Witten was a great mentor, not just with the game, but how to carry themselves as players. And if he wants to get into coaching, that is a good start.
however, would he be willing to take that back seat this season or not. He needs to or not be on the team.

I would be ok with him in that role, but no way he needs to be starting. I also would be fine if they decided to move on from him.

Lee still has value in a backup role.

Lee has no ego, still can make plays when he has juice, devours film, and helps the young guys. He doesn't mind losing playing time to them and almost encourages it, and they know it. He's probably also willing to take a discount, say 1 year $5m. All those things you can't get in the NFL for that money.

Witten? Old Yeller time bud. He does NOTHING of the things I listed about Lee.
