I have never seen the Cowboys draft well when they didn't have all of their pics in the first few rds. Jerry starts wildcatting.

He did not play a lot. A rotational guy. Bad attitude. Yet he became the Dallas second round pick.
That's not entirely accurate. He didn't play a lot but he had good plays with his limited time on the field.

better start drafting better real quick or this team will be in hell when they give dak his big contract. stop drafting underachievers like trysten hill too...draft overachievers instead who had to work their butts off their entire lifes and change the entitled me me me culture of this team.

Deal should have been done when the trade was done.

Totally agree. And wait to see how screwed teams like the Texans and Rams will be with Tunsil and Ramsey when they gave up TWO 1st rounders! This strategy will go down as a total failure for the teams that employed it.

McGovern will probably start in 2020, and should be a plus starter.

I liked the kid coming out of the draft too, but I think that's a huge stretch and reach for a guy that never even had a preseason practice. His rookie season was as close to 'washout' as it gets.

I think McGovern will end up being a nice player for us. Pollard is a good change of pace back. Other than that?

Hill will be an anchor for years to come. The last giant middle finger from Marinelli to Cowboys fans.

I never really hate any player or coach but I am close to hating Marinelli. He's screwed more than a draft or two due to his stubbornness.

It was an awful draft for sure. The only semi saving grace would have been Amari, but that's only if we are able to retain him.

We had no first round pick and picked a player in the second round who wasn’t even a starter in college. No surprise he wasn’t good enough to suit up last season. Had we drafted Hill after the fourth round he probably wouldn’t have made the team. He did nothing in training camp or preseason to make the team. His second round draft position is why he made the team.

Yea, wasn't a fan of the pick. Just believe it can't be put solely on Jerry for that pick.

His coordinator fell in love with the guy and Jerry didn't over rule him and run the draft like it was Madden.

It is too early to tell on this draft class. Hill, McGovern, and pollard could end up being really good picks.

It was clearly Marinelli who lobbied to get Hill.

Our last 3 drafts have been weak. That’s going to cost us, if it hasn’t already (see last year).

IMO 2018 wasn't weak.

Obviously it relies on LVE staying healthy but he made the All Pro team his rookie year.
Williams is an average guard that struggles with brute force rushers but he also came into the league at 21 years old.
Gallup appears to be a good #2, with possible more upside.

Armstrong and Schultz have been backups and haven't flashed much, but are depth at this point. Wilson made the team this year and may have a future here as a #3 or 4 receiver.

Two years later the only bad pick was Mike White, which isn't too bad to swallow as a 5th round pick.

This means nothing to me. The Cowboys were coming off a 10-6 season where they won the division and won 7 of their last 8 games. They team looked set to do big things in 2019. What was their position of need? The drafted Hill at DT and perhaps that was a disappointment. but we knew he was a project. The Cowboys were drafting for depth. I still think Hill will be a decent 2nd round pick in a year or two.

But I will say this, if they can;t work something reasonable out with Cooper, and he leaves, then the 2019 draft will be a disaster.
Exactly. People have to remember that Amari Cooper was also part of the 2019 draft. You are right about re-signing him though - no Super Bowl and no extended contract would make it a bad use of a 1st round draft pick.

Was Trysten Hill actually considered a great talent? I never watch college ball, only the NFL... so I have no idea.

Was he great at the college level?

No. He was never a very productive player in college. He just had traits that our idiot defensive coordinator at the time coveted and our even more idiotic front office didn't know any better to tell him no.

I believe Hill had a whopping 6 sacks in 3 years of college. Real rushman right there. Not to mention it takes you one minute listening to him speak to know he has the maturity level of a 10 year old.

Just a horrific draft pick.
