When speaking with the media, Fassel said he has done nothing but watch film since arriving in Dallas. He said that he’s coming into the situation with a “blank” slate for himself and everyone who has been on the team.

Fassel also told the media that they will be super technique driven and keep things simple.

In his last season in Oakland (2011), he had three players make the Pro Bowl (K Sebastian Janikowski, P Shane Lechler and LS Jon Condo).

His next stop would be with the St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams. (2012-2019) Before Fassel arrived, the Rams were a poor special teams.

During his time with the Rams, he was responsible for the development of kicker Greg Zuerlein, punter Johnny Hekker and long snapper Jake McQuaide.

The three of them made the Pro Bowl seven times and Rams special teams players earned NFC Special teams player of the week awards 15 times under Fassel.

This is music to my ears. The Dallas Cowboys just got exactly what they needed. We're all going to see a much different special teams next year. Thank goodness!!!

Having a superior ST group is a great advantage. It's been a while since Dallas had a superior ST group. They have been blessed to have some superior ST players for certain seasons but the whole group has not been superior in a long time. I hope Coach Fassel can get that done.

While Fassel is an outstanding special teams coach, and his presence alone should improve the special teams units, keep in mind that the quality of your special teams are most dictated by the resources allocated to them (starters on coverage teams) as well as the time allotted to practicing them. If McCarthy doesn't make practice time for special teams a priority, there will be limits to how good they can be, Fassel or no Fassel.

Wonder if LP will be back or he will go with a younger LS to develop.

what does this mean for Chris Jones, can he salvage him, was Jones' ability declining, or was it the entire ST's making him look worse than he was. Yes, he had some bad punts, but were they hurried because of the protection?

Will be interesting to see how all this develops.

the 2010 San Diego Chargers had the #1 Offense and the #1 Defense. They missed the playoffs. They also had the #32 ranked special teams. So happy with poaching Fassell.
