How about this tight end, OJ Howard?

I'd love to add him if they've written him off and given up hope, and are willing to take a low pick for him. Or a low pick plus a spare part player our new coaching staff doesn't have much use for. (Or a low pick that turns into a mid-round pick if he posts big numbers. Which I'm not sure he would, given McCarthy's history of TE usage.)

A TE posting those kinds of yards per catch is pretty bonkers. That's an unusual weapon.

I see a guy who could easily take his game to a new level in a new situation.

Unless our scouts and coaches love this year's TE class and think there are good receiving threats to be had there.

TE is a vital position in the WCO

Kinda sucks that the eagles got Goedert one pick ahead of us selecting BUST O-Lineman Connor Williams. Heck, even the next TE selected (Mark Andrews) turned out great. We can't evaluate tight ends, never mind that is not the problem (or is it?). We can't develop them, especially with Witten on the roster.

I'd rather draft then sign a vet..

I think OJ Howard has shown he is nothing special. Good player though

We most likely will have the chance to select the #1 ranked TE this draft. Don't see any buzz where there's a can't miss prospect though.

Most of these 1st round TE's end up being wasted picks.. That's what i'm worried about.

If i'm drafting a 1st round TE I want Gronk, Kelce, Ertz, Kittle... We just don't see that with those 1st round guys very often.

The sweet spot for TE's is the 2nd & 3rd round.

I feel this team has too many defensive needs to use a 2nd or 3rd round pick on a TE, especially considering the fact that they never start rookie TE's.

True, and its a position that takes time to develop historically. We wouldn't reap the benefits until years 2-4. Hockenson and Fant were the hot shots last year, although they looked good at times, they didn't light the world on fire year 1. There are names in rounds 2 and 3 we should target.

our track record with drafting TEs has me cautious about even drafting one that high. With Garrett and the gang gone, I hope it changes. Drafting a TE high is a future move.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
TE O.J. Howard

He struggled throughout his first season in Bruce Arians' offense, which has been notorious for not getting the tight end involved vertically as much as Dirk Koetter's did. The Bucs did entertain offers for Howard before the trade deadline. Going to an offense that utilizes him differently might be what he needs to rejuvenate his career. -- Jenna Laine
Would be great to get him in Dallas. He has been totally underutilized in TB.

Well that whole '2nd round TE' deal never worked. With Fasano, and Bennett, they never actually committed to making the two TE offense they envisioned work. It was always the Jason Witten show and therefore, yiu could never get the return in that second round investment. Escobar just sucked and was a total miss in evaluation. A black eye where this team drafted a guy already out of the league over Super Bowl Champion Travis Kelce, the best TE in the game.

If they need one now, sign a mid-level free agent like Ebron.

Not worth talking about until next year. Good & willing blocker. Showed at 'Bama he can be a play maker. Not worth it this year, though. Wait until he's a FA.

Ebron would really do well here.

Witten had 65 catches for 500+ yds, and 3 TDs?

Ebron should double all those numbers with Dak dumping the ball off in the WCO.

With Ebron, Cobb, and Cooper we'd lead the league in drops by a wide margin. No thanks.

He was hurt in 2019, but his 2018 numbers were sick and he finally showed to be the player the Lions thought they were drafting in the 1st round. Still only 26.

He had 9 drops in 2018 and 5 drops in 2019 and now has the nickname "Brick Hands Ebron" among Colts fans. He was a good red zone target, but we have a team right now that has Cobb who had 9 drops this year, Cooper who has bad hands himself, and Gallup who is inconsistent and tries to body catch. You can have one player that drops passes, but we'd easily be the team with the worst hands in the league if Ebron came here.

I wonder if that was the same in 2018? When with an actually good quarterback, the guy scored 13 TD's for those same Colts fans? I'm betting not.

An individual player's problem is an individual player's problem. I'll let Cobb, Gallup, and Cooper fix their own issues and not blame it on whatever Ebron is or isn't doing.

Hopefully, the new receiver's coach puts a higher priority on them actually receiving the football!

Yes, that's the one that I read as well and was referring to. Others from Gil Brandt and from Mike Sando at the Athletic are in that $6 million range as well, with qualifiers that it's still an estimate.
There's Tyrone Crawford money Stash..........:lmao2:

The move is to just stick with Jarwin..

He’s shown enough potential and I think he does have some real upside that is being ignored right now.

If Jarwin was a 2nd round pick we wouldn’t even be having a debate about who our TE is next year because he has developed and even produced this year with old man Witten stealing snaps from him.
